How much time does Warburton have? 17:10 - Jul 11 with 19613 views | HOOPNO7 | Since coming back from Lockdown we have been P!ss poor in defence & after today's performance/result how long will it be before the Board make a change?
How much time does Warburton have? on 11:11 - Jul 13 with 2373 views | bosh67 | Until this very bad dip in form and despite the defence being poor all season Warburton has carried out something of a miracle. Like all managers I don't agree with some of his decisions and I think he needs to bring in specialised experienced coaches to cover defending but other than that I can't think of anyone who would have done more with what we have. Although he must be wondering what has happened to the seeming bunch of imposters he's inherited after the lockdown.

How much time does Warburton have? on 11:16 - Jul 13 with 2359 views | CiderwithRsie | We have to stop this nonsense about sacking managers. As Clive has pointed out often we've had these runs of defeats in recent years with several different managers and completely different squads. Warbs has more excuse than most what with lockdown and having no strikers, it's ridiculous to go after him. But there is something deep-seated wrong at the club that it keeps happening and Warburton and Les need to stamp it out.

This. Warburton is a class act and not the issue at all IMHO. The key to our club , to me, seems to be the word ‘fragile’ — both physically and mentally. I hate to do this, but I can’t help but make the comparison with our friends in Hounslow. They have had knocks (good managers leaving (Dean Smith) top strikers going regularly (Maupay) and yet their juggernaut just rolls onwards and upwards. Their plan and infrastructure seems fully in place and nothing, not even a bat in China, can blow them of course. They are ‘warm-blooded’. We appear to be the ‘cold-blooded’ opposite — we immediately change with the environment. We make fine progress on/off the field and are trying to do the right thing. But the slightest issue that comes along (injuries, an enforced break, circumstances) and we go into a tail-spin almost straight away. I remain positive — I think we are getting there with our board, club, manager and team but it’s a long frustrating, tiresome haul to turn our ‘blood’ from cold to warm.

How much time does Warburton have? on 11:05 - Jul 13 by francisbowles | I think he is a fairly wealthy man from his time as a 'trader' or whatever. If he was fed up with it, the money might not be a consideration and he might go. However, I think he loves working in football so I would fully expect him to be around as long as he believes he can improve the side. |
I hope that's the case too. It is an interesting question about whether he'd walk away from it all but you'd hope he still wants to be here and do as well as he can. Recruitment in pre-season is going to be absolutely crucial though (yet again).

However he surely has questions to answer and if we cannot find a manager with the coaching ability to stop this club conceeding 70 plus goals year after year after year after year then structurally something is very, very wrong at this club.

I think whatever happens in these 3 games he'll start next season and deserves a chance to try and improve the team but you are right it's shit at the moment and there are some solid reasons to change manager at the moment, the way we have finished this season is not good enough

We were always one Hugill injury away from being in real trouble: anyone who has watched the U23s regularly would know that Oteh, Walker and Kendall are nowhere near first team standard. We should've got another striker in on loan when Wells left: even keeping Mlakar would've been better than what we have now. I doubt any of this is down to Warburton.

The whole culture of the club is wrong , where is the ambition and before people say we need money I don’t see Preston, Millwall, Blackburn doing any worse with limited budgets Even Wigan are 4 points above us now Sheff Utd & Wycombe are testament to giving things a go with limited budgets We haven’t progressed one jot in 5 years since going down to the championship Infact we have wasted the parachute money on players who are crap or can’t settle Warburton is In a long line of managers who are working with crap and who just about do enough to finish 16th
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Wigan and Blackburn spend more than we do. Preston are operating off years of stability that we're trying to get to (and have hit the wall again despite being "ambitious" with Scott Sinclair). Millwall yeah, they're doing alright. Wycombe's achievement is apples and oranges to our situation. Sheff Utd and Wilder are a outlier fairy tale, something really special that comes together once in a blue moon regardless of how well a club is run that you can't just point at and say "well do what they did". Before our form fell off a cliff post-restart none of those in our division were ever more than 9 points ahead of us. No one's saying we can't do better but exempting the restart you can't point to any evidence of us not trying to compete. This "ambition" and "giving it a go" stuff is hot air and just a tantrum for us losing games.

I think with our budget in recent years we massively underachieved, this year we were on course to over achieve for a change until the return from lockdown where we've gone to pot. Hard to know if the same would have happened if we had continued in March/April but can't really make excuses, to finish 16th again is shit and have to do better next year. What exactly is the culture ? it says to me we are happy to plod along and get to 50 points , we can’t even get a cup run going, we have no guts or spirit I don’t expect play offs but to go through this year in year out is depressing , where is the hope , we sell our best players for peanuts and bar the odd few signings the majority have been a waste of money for little or no return Look how far we have fallen even Brentford laugh at us

Hang on a minute PP You’ll have some apologists along soon stating “statistically according to our history we are exactly where we should be in the pyramid”. The apathy is palatable The erosion of standards in this club has generally been going on for around two decades; the odd peak under Ollie and King Warnock. Pains me to hear the fans accepting of it, distressed me to see the club slip again into the swamp of shiteness I fear for us

How much time does Warburton have? on 22:05 - Jul 14 with 1750 views | Benny_the_Ball | IMHO Warburton still has plenty of credit in the bank and rightly so. However a slight shift in his philosophy is required to strike a balance between defence and attack. We all fondly remember Taarabt and Faurlin in the championship winning season of 2010-11 but it was the foundation provided by the likes of Kenny, Derry, Hill, Gorkss and Orr that provided them with the platform to flourish.

The culture of our club is of community, self sufficiency, and youth development. It takes time PP. it took Southampton a decade to turn around. We are only four years in. [Post edited 14 Jul 2020 22:12]

Community - yep when in Admin it was a brilliant place and “all in it together”. Long since gone and never the case before Self Sufficiency - errrmm? When? Literally when ever in our history have we not been reliant on owners???? Youth Development - I agree, that Richard Langley is a ‘kin legend The culture of this club is decent football, the 10 shirt, band of brothers, small club sticking it to the bigger clubs, West London arrogance and loyal die hards demanding sweat for the badge. So sad to see that culture destroyed by greed, idiots and spoilt brats. I don’t expect to be top six Prem or Championship trail blazers but to be in the shadow of Bentford, PNE, Millwall or evening fckin Millwall sickens me to the core of my being. Sorry but that’s how I feel and I cannot believe that of myself

I think our definitions probably differ LBlock. I know you are a passionate guy, but do you not think being ‘sickened to your core’ by Millwall’s freak success is a bit OTT? It gives me hope actually that we might do the same despite a limited budget. If you want to draw some heart from somewhere, we’ve already beaten our points total from last year.

Social fabric, being part of a greater whole, all the work in the community, Kiyan Prince Foundation stadium? No, it's that time we had to put coins in a bucket cos we spent our money wrong. Male menopausal pseudo-military bollocks about 'ard graft, micro-local bragging rights, moaning on and on like tarts when we lose a couple games, that's our culture mate.
