Maybe he could have gone the traditional way for millionaire's to get a policy change and made a fat donation to the Conservative Party?

Instead he's made a public statement and set a superb example.

Malnutrition!

Do you realise what is happening out there at the moment?
School dinners are cooked at the hub schools and delivered to people's doors.
The parents are treated like babies, they are not even required to cook the food that we are paying for.
Families who receive free school meals have enough money to feed their own children for Christ's sake.

Nope. Distribution is happening in some places where there's infrastructure for delivery.

For many (including) rural areas there's either the offer of a £15 weekly voucher (cannot be redeemed for alcohol, fags or non-food items) or a pick up from a hub kitchen. The cost of the journey to pick up the lunch is prohibitive for many so they take the vouchers for a one off shop.

Weren't you arguing the case the other day (rightly) for the academic plight of FSM boys? Hard to learn stuff when you're hungry.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/marcus-rashford-hits-back-at-therese-coffe

Edited highlights;
"Marcus Rashford is embroiled in a row with the Tory welfare chief after she replied to his free school meals campaign with a "flippant" tweet.
The 22-year-old Manchester United footballer renewed calls today for the government to continue free meal vouchers for children over the summer holidays.
In a plea to MPs he tweeted: "When you wake up this morning and run your shower, take a second to think about parents who have had their water turned off during lockdown".
But Work and Pensions Secretary Therese Coffey replied: "Water cannot be disconnected though."

Some tw*ts;
"Former BBC journalist Ben Smith said it was "dismissive, flippant, arrogant, detached from reality - all the worst things about modern politics and politicians."
Twitter user @rowetta said the "disgusting" tweet should make Ms Coffey "ashamed and sacked" while fellow user Jake Humphrey wrote: "This is a really bad look. Really bad."

The truth;
"Ms Coffey is right that the law stops water firms disconnecting the supply to people's homes.

Try and stay rational is it.

"

Based on that, her comments have been described as ‘flippant, dismissive, arrogant and detached from reality’. Not ‘technically inaccurate’.

She knows exactly what he means, as does everyone else.

She’s picked him up on a technicality and made herself look flippant, dismissive and arrogant at the very best.

Fair play to Rashford. It would be very easy for him to sit back and count his money. He’s chosen to speak out on something he can relate to and matters to him.

The water companies can’t turn off water into a premises but landlords can and do turn off water to tenants, it’s become quite the thing during the virus as they’ve been prevented by law from evicting people, so have taken to turning off water to get rid of people that are behind in payments.

Plus he was clearly talking about hot water anyway.

The tweet was unbelievably crass and can’t be justified by anyone. The Tory Party are absolutely fuming with her.

They are not learning anything stuck at home mate, not that the people who get paid by the likes of me to educate our children give a single f*ck.

They are not even bothering to teach them anything at the hubs, they are just a glorified nursery.

How it works.
The teaching staff rotate at the hub, so the only people working their usual amount every week are the dinner ladies...a lot of which have second jobs.

I was speaking to one a few weeks ago who was livid about it. She gets to go off at the crack of dawn to work at the supermarket to help keep everybody fed, when her shifts allow she is at the school cooking dinners for lazy f*ckers.
She goes home knackered after doing her own shopping and the shopping for her elderly neighbour.
Meanwhile the other side of her there is a family where the parents don't work who never leave the house, get paid out of her taxes, get their shopping delivered at their door (she herself doesn't have time to book an online slot, she's too busy fecking working), and are getting their kids lunch delivered to their door that their neighbour fecking cooked in between shifts.

Why do you think so many have had a gutsful?
Wake up, things are going to change.

Oh fabulous. Even during lockdown you’ve managed to have a lengthy conversation with someone who supports your view.

Anyway, this doesn’t affect Wales.

Wales announced a few days ago that it was keeping free school meals throughout the summer.

So why weren’t you arguing about this when it was announced for Wales?

You may as well be arguing about a policy introduced in France for all it affects you.

I was under the understanding that landlords aren't allowed to turn off a tenants water supply so I did a quick check and this is what came up.
"Harassment can be any action your landlord takes to deliberately disrupt your life or make you leave your property. Landlord harassment is a criminal offence. It can include: cutting off your gas, electricity or water supply"

Of course it doesn't detract from the obvious ill worded reply she gave.

Yes, it’s illegal.

But the remedy is for the tenant to first write to the landlord, and follow it up with a complaint, and the landlord most commonly claims it was a ‘mistake when they shut off the water because of a suspected leak’ and rinse and repeat. Water can be off for a few days while all that goes on.

It’s a really, really common form of harassment of tenants. Same with heating and electricity but those on meters often have them within their own premises as it’s on a key. Water tends to be centrally controlled and easier to do by the landlord.

Well done Marcus.

Secondly as much as Kerouac can discuss the situation in schools,
He should also consider that the hubs have had to cater for children of massive age,
Ability and needs. This involved changing the soiled underwear of SEN kids at the height of the pandemic with a virus that is faecally shed. These are teachers and assistants, not medical or nursing staff. No doubt he also believes universities are closed.
I am currently looking through the online exams and background given to students as an external examiner. All I can say is the level of work that has gone in at this university to provide assessment must have been enormous.

I am bothered by irresponsible people encouraging irrational people.
In the end that behaviour spells disaster for everyone.

The rest of what the minister said;
"“We are working to the same aim. I and this Govt will continue to actively help and support families and businesses through this emergency and beyond.”

...and you lot want her sacked for being "flippant". Get a grip.

Yeah, what a wild claim, talking to somebody at a supermarket.

Based on what has happened so far the government were probably going to roll out school dinners all summer anyway. Nobody needed a millionaire footballer's intervention...but every time a policy like that is enacted you think about that lady in that supermarket. Ask yourself what does she think about it.
