You'd be very surprised

Indeed. Knowing Huw, it'll lead to a £500k loan-to-buy signing for Stuart Downing.

Can I just say that as he 'hasn't asked too leave', out of the £7.4m, we would have to pay off the remainder of his signing on fee which at just 18 months into a four year contract could be as much £5m! Just saying.

This!

From memory (rumours I know) he had some clause in his Contract that should he be sold that the signing on fee was to be paid in full. Nice if you can get it on top of a tidy weekly wage in the tens of thousands....

Still following Dr's orders!

Aye, I'd reckon the best we can realistically hope for is to cover somewhere near the money that we gave to him to sign and to free up his wage.

It shows how disgusting the money in football is when someone (not aimed at Gomis) can sit on the bench week in week out, do a bit of training, go home...for £60,70,80...200k PER WEEK. Doing this for £60k a year would be crazy enough.

We'd all do it if we could, some would try their best, some wouldn't. But purely in terms of money, we'd do the best for our family. The crazy thing is that Gomis will get his millions, move on, and instantly get a £40-80k per week contract.

Same with managers getting payoffs in the millions for doing a crap job. I realise that part (most?) of the problem here is the club offering these contracts to begin with.

Football has gone mad.

Absolutely! I'd still let him go. No point keeping him here and continue paying out, when we get nothing in return from him. We certainly haven't lost out financially, but we wont have some mega war chest that some think. Then again, you'd be suprised what you could get from that free wage bill!

So expecting, what?, £15 mil to £20 mil spending money from Jonjo and Gomis alone? Lovely.

What someone expects is often very different to what someone actualy gets.
I'd love to be wrong but....... a £70,000 per week striker that can't score, and a midfielder that can't be ar*ed to play........ £20 million for both ? Nah!! can't see it happening.
