I have always thought I had quite an eclectic taste in music, The Stones are my main men, but also anything from Eminem to the Beatles, from the Streets to Shirley Bassey, the Rat pack etc.
But I could never get my head around Pink Floyd post Syd Barratt, must be the only person who thought Dark Side ... was aload of crap. , but last night watched the "making of wish you were here", what a band and what a story, not just concentrating on the band, but the album designers, photographers, etc. well worth a watch.
Out to buy or download some Floyd later on I think. Anyone you really changed your minds about.

Rock and punk have always been my bag but there is one I changed my mind on.
Yes don't laugh....Celine Dione.
I used to cringe when I heard her but having seen her life story and hear some of her stuff which can be quite rocky, bluesy and ballsy it makes you realise what a real talent she is....fair play to her.

PETTY is a giant. Dire Straits defined the times. Music and people evolve. I seem to go off many artistes over the years but the greats remain great. Brain Damage is one of the best recordings ever by anyone for musicianship.

Its easy to rubbish Jackson but Thriller still does. Cheap Trick? See everyone has an opinion and free to express themselves
Thriller and Off The Wall have been constants on my ipod over the last couple of weeks. People lauding Daft Punks album this summer - they should have bought Off The Wall instead and saved themselves some disappointment

A good topic and very difficult to answer. I am a music lover and find it very difficult to name an artist I am particularly fond of as many of my favs have released plenty of cr@p.
‘……. like a moth to Itchy’s flame ……’
I think when you're of a younger age you tend to pigeon hole yourself into a particular genre or band and dismiss everything else as rubbish. Its not until you get older that you really appreciate the music of other bands.

For some reason I hated the Stone Roses when they came out and all that manchester scene, however I love them now , couldnt say why, I think it was I have always been in to heavy ?rock music so just wouldnt accept them.
The Cult are the ones for me also a love of Sabbath The godfather of Metal Mr Kilmininsters band, Love the Seattle scene AIC awesome, did the goth thing to, Mission (almost there with ethe Cult) Sisters etc.
Havent got a clue what new music is around today as I just dont listen to it any more, well not the wireless
The hair and the beard have gone I am now conforming to society, tis a sad day
The b*stards are coming back though

I disliked Muse when they first came on the scene, then I loved them around Origin of Symmetry/Absolution time, after that I went off them completely, never listen to them anymore.
Even the bad times were good.

Gotta love the roses Paul, better late than never! Went to opening night at Heaton park last year, loved it. Regarding the OP,exactly the same as me regarding Floyd,my dad liked them,I thought they were boring until I got a bit older. Try dark side again,it's brilliant.Animals is also a good album. And you're right, that documentary about wish you were here is a great watch.

Was about to mention Muse. Never really liked them before because of Matt Bellamy's singing style, but suddenly they just clicked with me. Listen to it all now.
I'll happily listen to almost anything from Blues to Classical to Prog to Electronic. The only thing that doesn't really float my boat is RnB.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
