Please don't do this. There are just too many sub-topics to subsume them all into one.
Next we'll have one thread on the football-only site -- "The Sports Thread."
Its up to individuals Tone, I dont doubt that some subjects will warrant its own thread i.e Thatcher as an example was a splendid one on its own about her awesome demise

You seen that Labour want to bring a law in about discrimination of the forces boys by pubs?
Shale gas with sensible environmental considerations and protections are a good idea, saying that I would open up the coal mines tomorrow.
Looking around the world, wealth seems to be something extracted from the ground. So maybe instead of enriching the kingdom of Saud as we do currently, who then go on to fund Al Qaeda. Britain (outside of London) would receive some of the benefit in terms of jobs.
Having an economy based on powerpoint presentations and coffee shops is idiotic.

You're right, epaul, and I know it. Had to have a mini-rant.
It's disgusting that any business in this country would turn away a squaddie. Any that do should be boycotted.
What does anyone make about the size of our EU contribution rising to over 20 billion? Apparently we get 8 billion back in grants, so that's 12 billion of our money being given away. Surely we'd be better off keeping all that money and spending it at home?

No it won't. It's proven that Fracking pollutes our water, causes lasting damage to the environment and causes tremors and sinkholes. The equipment will be left in the ground forever and will decay, the wells will then leak out harmful materials.

Show me the proof

So you would be happy for a company to come near your town and do it? Good luck with that. We've raped this planet of enough fossil fuel as it is and if you think Fracking is like mining then you need to research your facts correctly.
Watch the film Gasland and you will change your view. There is proof - tons of it and it's not hard to find.
Those in favour don't tell us the dangers. Those against don't mention the positives. It's hard to get a fully informed account...... of anything really! Do the benefits outweigh the risks? I would say yes, unless it's happening in your area! It's different in very large countries, they have vast open spaces to frack. We are a relatively small and overpopulated country.
The benefits do not outweigh the risks, not at all. Short term gain over long term pollution. You do realise that those chemicals used are non bio degradable and that the areas surrounding the drilling and beyond are going to be no go areas for hundreds of years due to the ground being unstable.
Add Fracking to mining reports when we go to buy a new house in the future and expect plenty of housing to be demolished due to the ground sinking.
It;s disgusting that the government are giving cart blanch to oil companies to come here and do this for profit. The government don't care either as they are getting massive slices of that pie, especially the ones who have business connections with these companies.
If you are saying short term profit is more important than the health and welfare of future generations then you are in a minority and completely wrong.
FYI - this is just the start in the UK. They are proposing that they drill under Swansea bay to burn coal underneath the sea bed and extract the gas from it.
Yes ebo, which is why I added "unless it's happening in your area" For example, the ground could be polluted in the north west. But if fracking doesn't happen in Wales we could see financial gains without any of the geological problems.

It's happening already in Wales - look at the map. 6 locations north of Swansea, Swansea bay, Maesteg, Bridgend, Glyneath and lot's more on the way.
I think you're missing my point mate. Which is, you don't want it happening near you! Unfortunately, our governments only take notice of their rich friends and pound signs.
