Goztepe first half and a bad goal to conceded again. We were much better in the 2nd half and Goztepe were virtually non-existent. Alcaraz, Mara, Olaigbe (I think that is correct) and Doyle looked good. JWP uncharacteristically ballooned a penalty well over.
It was more about getting fitness and some shape.

Key points from the game for me - Alcaraz is a must keep. - Bazunu still looks dodgy - Bednerak and Stephens look decent - The young player up front or winger, looks pacey - Adams still misses every chance he gets, sell him. - Lots of possession but we still arn't aggressive enough or direct enough. - It still such a struggle to score.

I C still don’t know the Score
Finished 1-1 JWP missed a Pen As already stated, we conceded a sloppy goal for 0-1 Good strike from Alcaraz for 1-1 - he will tear up the Championship IMO Do like Amo-Ameyaw, so close to getting a late winner

Lets hope I_Would didn't see the penalty miss
They'll be looking for that ball in Istanbul.
It deserves an entry in the Guniness Book of Records for the biggest penalty miss ever. The ball went up into the sky like an Apollo launch rocket and was the vertical equivalent of not just hitting the corner flag but missing it altogether and landing somewhere near the halfway line.

I didn’t realize we paid nearly a million for Amo-Ameyaw

He shows the potential to be worth at least 60 times that one day as long as he doesn't develop the 'lifestyle issues' that blight the progress of so many promising youngsters..
Apologies all for confusing Olaigbe with Amo-Amayew. I clearly would never make a sports journalist or pundit! - having said that is my mistake any worse than the ones that our keepers keep making! haha
Anyway, Amo looked really good - whether that will transfer into being a consistently good players only time will tell.

Agreed that Amo-Ameyaw looked good but I would guess that at 16 he's unlikely to be a regular starter. He'll need a bit of kid gloves for a few years yet. My one concern is that his major strength is dribbling and taking people on. That's not something that's been part of Rustyball. RM likes players to pass their way through, not risk possession by dribbling. I just hope that it's not coached out of him.

JWP plants his left foot very firmly and twists his body to whip the ball, Championship clubs will be soaking the 18 yard area now to spook his technique.

Agree with you about Alcaraz, a good player and seems to be enjoying himself at Saints. The question is, will he stay and if he does how long will it be before the likes of Klopp come sniffing (if not already). Not direct enough - Sheffield Wednesday will have been watching - expect them to dominate the midfield and take possession in our half if things don't change. Adams - does he actually get shooting practice? If not, he should be.

JWP is not a good penalty taker. He shapes up & takes pens like he does free kicks. His bent run up & side foot is OK if your trying to get swerve on it but not for pens. He should straighen his run up & put his instep thru the ball & hit it with Power. Or better still leave pens for someone else to take.
