The Holiday thread on 11:22 - Jun 13 with 2152 views | karnataka | I was in Portugal in April with 7 other family members. Going again in a couple of weeks time but by myself for a spot of chilling out and walking along the miles of gorgeous beaches. Decided I'm definitely going to France in June next year though!

The Holiday thread on 08:28 - Jun 13 by SwaneeRiver | Go round the corner to Kalamaki. much quieter ( at least it was in 1997 ! ) |
I may give it a try, thinking of renting a car for a couple days to see a bit more of the Island. Anyone think this is a good/bad idea ?

The Holiday thread on 07:46 - Jun 13 by Thornburyswan | Thanks Jill, it's our first visit to Santorini - staying in Kamari so away from the glam spots of Ola & Fira I believe :-) |
Kamari was our stay too. Hotel was up the side of the mountain ( daft for someone so unfit) Ola is a good day out, takes some doing avoiding the brides keen to be photographed against the sunset. Enjoy your break.

The Holiday thread on 08:32 - Jun 13 by SwaneeRiver | Did that last year. Guess German leg is Warnamunde ? Lovely town. However if they told you that you can have a day trip to Berlin don't believe them. It's 3 hours each way by train. Also if you haven't booked St. Petersburg trips with cruise line, book them independently. Much better value and get to see a lot more |
Yeah going with Celebrity cruises. Is it worth getting off at Warnamunde? I won't be going across to Berlin then if it takes that long! Yeah, I will be booking the tour in St Petersburg independently for the reasons you've mentioned. The independent tours also seem to be less busy. My parents have been and said it was a beautiful and very clean city. I'm looking forward to it. Did you enjoy it overall?

Prep yourself with a copy of this, young fella'. Carry it with you. You'll have a better understanding of the places you'll visit, how they came to be and a far more accurate handel on the stuff you're made of. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/European-Identity-A-Hist

Had a Brilliant time. The only down side was it was on Cunard Queen Vic and at times it was like God's waiting room on there. Having been on about 26 cruises, this is not my usual experience of cruises. Went with Celebrity two years ago - IMO their the best. Warnamunde is a one minute walk from the terminal and if the sun is shining it's got a lovely estuary walk, beach and town all within very easy reach. We had no expectations at all of it, so it was a very pleasant surprise Personally I enjoyed every port we visited on that cruise. The only thing is I wish I'd booked the Russian trips beforehand

I wasn't going to get off there until you mentioned how nice it is. I'm departing 25th July so the weather should hopefully be decent. I'm meeting my girlfriend's parents for the first time at Southampton before departing (they're flying over from Brisbane for it) so I feel like I need to have a bit of knowledge about the trip beforehand in case they ask me any Europe related questions. Cheers for the tips. And you Loh.

Gorseinon ? I have more class than that but it probably doesn't come across on an internet site 😉. Mount Pleasant born, my roots are from Bonymaen and West Cross.

The Holiday thread on 14:01 - Jun 14 with 1721 views | Pegojack | Just come back from a week in central France, staying at Chez Jallot as featured on Grand Designs Abroad a couple of times. Great cycling around there on Tour de France style country roads through the forests. Off to Holland at the end of July for a week in a B&B near Willemstadt, south of Rotterdam. Again, cycling will feature heavily!

Make sure you do The Hermitage. Fantastic stuff, even if you're only mildly interested in art. Helsinki, not so much.
