Headless chicken?

DO ME A FAVOUR

Poll: Who do we want down with us and Burnley?

Mackie on 16:57 - Feb 11 with 2092 viewsKerryE

He has some fight in him, sad to say we need that more than anything now
0
Mackie on 16:57 - Feb 11 with 2075 viewsWatford_Ranger

He's a better winger than SWP
A better midfielder than Buz
A better midfielder than Barton
A better left-back than Taiwo
A better centre-half than Hall.

Overall that performance was abysmal and even in the second half there was a lack of quality but he is one of the very few who can hold his head high tonight.

At least there will not be anyone on here slagging him off tonight like there is on most Saturdays

I have to say that I was one who said he didnt have enough for this league , but if every player put as much as he does into their game we would be mid table IMO

Love Mackie's spirit, a reminder of Derby away.
Unlike last this ain't going to be our season though, not very good, not very lucky.

It Is What It Is !!

Sounds like Adel last week.

What Mackie has, is lots of character and you need that in a relegation dogfight.

Totally agree... Mackie was the best player on the park, by a mile, but we were also all raving about others in different games (Buzz v Wigan comes to mind)...
My point is there's NO consistent performances from our regular 11 (& I'm talking good to outstanding performances)...

We lack so much consistency, just look at the difference between the commitment of the two halves today (& not just our MOM)... Soo frustrating!!

No, any player can be crap at any given time. So long as you are better more times than not. Mackie is, and has rarely let himself or the team down.

It seems like we're in for a night of rewriting history.

Well said qprxtc.
I would rather have a Mackie with the potential to improve under a good coach than some of the under-performing "stars" we have signed- how many of them have put in premiership quality performances on a consistent basis (if at all)?
If anything, Jamie probably has a bigger part to play, now that we find ourselves in a real scrap for survival.

Nov77 I'm sorry if I have missed this, but why in your opinion is he worse than some of the other "name" players on the team. Just an honest question and would like to hear a reasoned response.

Herman Goering was alleged to have said in 1940 when things weren't quite going Germany's way, " Give me a squadron of Spitfires".

I say in our current predicament, "give me a team of 11 Mackie's".

Shows great spirit. A good lad. He has his detractors, but they know nothing.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

Call me a detractor if you will, as I said earlier in the thread Mackie playing upfront in his actual position has a lot of value, playing on the wing in a 4-4-2 is a total waste of a place.

Although he did play well when he came I would not start him .
Now don't start slaughtering me I only say this because I think he showed today he was a brilliant super sub, but not a starter ,

Now here we go with the "are you a f@cking idiot?"

He was the only player who was proud to wear the shirt and who had any desire.

Everyone else was pathtically awful.

Trouble is he is not consistent. Even so he is far superior and adds much more to the team than Barton or SWP

I thought he did well because he was prepared to be direct in the box, Adel seemed to want to go across the edge of the area to avoid being tackled. Blackburn were more physical than us and also taller which meant they won a lot of the first balls, Mackie got in there where it hurts and it paid off.

Plus we desperately needed someone taller to combat Nzonzi, but we didn't have it and he won the midfield.

RIP: Sniffer, Doug and Pat

Hear, hear.

And all those other phrases that mean " spot on"

At least, Mackie seems proud to wear the shirt.

Whereas I feel embarrassed to wear the bloody thing - but at least mine was a £10 knock down end of line of sale I bought at the game against Hull last year.

SWP and our Joey can sit on someone else's bench.

Why does it feel like R'SWiPe is still on the books? Yer Couldn't Make It Up.Well Done Me!

Only 2 or 3 of our players showed any spirit today and none showed more than Mackie.
I'd rather have a player with limited abilities giving his all then a more gifted player who can't be arsed.

Yeah but Mackie is wasted out on the wing,he's a centre forward i have no doubt after watching todays performance.
