Mackie on 22:57 - Feb 11 with 865 views | karlski | love his attitude and directness wherever he plays. Agree he has had limited success on the wing but he has only had one chance to play up front in the Prem with us, today, and he was excellent for it. Him plus Zamora, while Cisse is out, makes us a lot more threatening because both will play pushed up against the back four, with Tarbs coming from deep/left wing. When tarbs is up front off another, we don't exert enough pressure on defences/get enough bodies in box.
Mackie on 08:11 - Feb 12 with 812 views | Superhoops2808 | Tired of saying it now all the time. So many so called experts on this board who think that Mackie is not what we need. He is EXACTLY what we need, someone with heart, passion, and gives it his all. Maybe some of you (And you know who you are) on here will give the credit he deserves

Mackie on 22:46 - Feb 11 by CHUBBS | Yeah but Mackie is wasted out on the wing,he's a centre forward i have no doubt after watching todays performance. |
Agreed He looked like a Centre Forward.. he is clearly not a winger! Got his rewards for his hard work yesterday. I've been someone to question his overall ability at this level but I have never knocked him as a guy, I love his positive attitude and work rate. We need more positive attitude from everyone right now, including us fans. Time to stick together and get behind EVERYONE!!
Mackie on 11:41 - Feb 12 with 765 views | Neil_SI | You can't fault his commitment and desire, he always tries and gives 100%, regardless of whether he's good enough or not. That goes a long way as he proved yesterday and he never tired of getting himself into the box and trying to have a go. I'm pleased for him as he was just getting into a period of games where he wasn't quite at his best, so this is a terrific boost for him on a personal level. The telling tale so far though is when we've needed to rely on players, it's been our guys from last season that have answered the call...with Alejandro Faurlin and Heidar Helguson being the other main two.
Mackie on 12:04 - Feb 12 with 749 views | JonDoeman | Hughes hails QPR hero Mackie QPR boss Mark Hughes saluted Jamie Mackie for overcoming the psychological as well as the physical scars to put in a superb late two-goal cameo at Blackburn on Saturday. It was during an FA Cup tie at Ewood Park last January that Mackie broke his leg, leading to a nine-month lay-off. Mackie found himself on the bench for his first Rovers return since that painful day, but put any negative thoughts to the back of his mind as his brace in the final 20 minutes almost earned QPR a point. Hughes said: “That was an important performance for Jamie, personally speaking, as he has come through some bad times “It was impressive, given his circumstances, that he had a such a positive effect. He came on and gave us the energy and willingness we needed. “Jamie has been unlucky not to be in the side, he has done very well. He lost his place as I wanted to see Shaun Wright-Phillips play in his natural position, but Jamie can play out wide or in the middle, giving us options.” Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest QPR news. iReader

Mackie on 19:48 - Feb 12 with 631 views | SomersetHoops | The problem is we have a number of players who are not fully fit or frightened of getting injured, so in some games nurse their injuries or pull out of fronting up attacking players, giving them a clear run - all elements clearly seen on Saturday. Its one of the problems of having a squad with too many players who are too old. Mackie is not one of them and has come back well from his leg-break and is prepared to have a real go. When he came to us he was not a Premiership level player, but was young enough to improve, the only one I can think of brought in by Warnock apart from Traore who was already playing in the PL. If he had been on all game I doubt he would have got two goals and I hope they were not just a fluke, but rather the result of working on his game skills and signs that he is developing into a player capable of holding his own at this level. Some of the players we have already supposedly good enough for the Premiership need to work hard on their skills which were not much in evidence for large parts of this game.

Good call. We also have to remember Mackie not only wants to play his part in keeping us in the Prem but is also trying to keep his international place with Scotland in tact, so he will try to give 100% a game. A gifted player or not, you can't fault his commitment to the cause which is more than can be said about one or two additions we added to our squad earlier this campaign.

Trust that Mark Hughes has now realised that SWP's "natural position" is being on the bench.... he made it his own at Chelscum and Citeh. And about to get his favourite spot again. Please God. Mackie deserves his shirt. Divide the goals scored by the number of minutes on the pitch to get SWP's success rate. You'd need a Hadron Collider manned by Bletchley Park code breakers to work that one out. Too many 00000000000000000000000000's PS Chelsum fans web site thinks Hadron Collider is JT's replacement. Mackie showed MH what he's made of. He didn't mention the leg break that he sustained at Ewood Park last season, he threw everything into his performance.
Mackie on 21:00 - Feb 12 with 574 views | gazza1 | There are good reasons to select Mackie in the starting 11 and good reasons to leave him out - I go with the former option atm. I really cant believe why anyone would want to give him any 'stick' tbh.
Mackie on 21:06 - Feb 12 with 552 views | RangersAreBack | If he plays he should play up front otherwise not at all. Worth remembering that, despite his inspired performance, he (as well as Onuoha) missed the simplest chances at the most critical times of the 2nd half.
Mackie on 00:02 - Feb 13 with 516 views | Neil_SI | Here's something interesting and surprising... I went over every game we've played this season (twenty nine including the cup games) and asked myself "if I had to pick a Man of the Match for each game, would would it have been?" When I tallied the numbers up, there was an astonishingly high number of games where I felt I couldn't single out anybody for such an accolade, because the performance levels were so poor. But on the other hand, joint top of the list with four was Jamie Mackie. It doesn't necessarily mean he's been the stand out player for us this season as often when you play well there's two or three candidates for such an accolade and everybody's opinion will differ, but it does tell a story for me. Hard work, effort and commitment can go a long way, or also prove that others are not pulling their weight.
Mackie on 00:30 - Feb 13 with 507 views | Nov77 | Well I've just had a look at the player ratings on this site and mackie averages 5.53 this season, which is lower than tommy smith, Fitz hall, buzsacky and sean Derry. Considering most posters on this board seem to love him that seems a pretty low average. SWP averages over 6. So for all your praise of mackie, collectively, you think SWP has played better this season.

Mackie on 00:45 - Feb 13 with 503 views | Kiwi76 | Deserves his place in the 25 and good courage on Sat but should be limited to impact sub if first XI are anywhere near potential. With his energy and head down running at them style could (& did) create chances but with full squad to choose from he's on the bench.

It could be that he is a natural centre forward. Given a chance he could be our 16 or more goals a season man. I liked the way he scored off HH earlier in the season, a well taken goal.

Mackie on 22:41 - Feb 11 by PeterHucker | Only 2 or 3 of our players showed any spirit today and none showed more than Mackie. I'd rather have a player with limited abilities giving his all then a more gifted player who can't be arsed. |
With you all the way man. Mackie must start starting instead of SWP, Shirley??

Mackie on 11:52 - Feb 13 with 427 views | adhoc_qpr | Assuming everyone is fit and available (bar Cisse obviously) - why not start Mackie upfront with Zamora, Diakite and Buz in the middle with Barton on the right and Adel on the left? SWP can sit on the bench for me - he's our own version of Stewart Downing!
Mackie on 11:58 - Feb 13 with 419 views | Northernr | the problem with all of this is we have a "flavour of the week" at the moment, and this week it's mackie. "Mackie must start," "we need a team of Mackies" etc etc. Fine, made a big difference on Saturday, nice to see a player putting it all in and posing a threat. But ten days ago after Aston Villa you couldn't find anybody on here who though Mackie should ever play for the team again. Prior to that Villa game we'd beaten Wigan with Buzsaky playing well, and suddenly Buzsaky was the great white hope and the answer to all our prayers and where has Buzsaky been and why didn't Warnock pick Buzsaky etc etc. Since then he's been injured (yet again) and fcking awful on Saturday. So now we're giving up on Buzsaky. And prior to that it was Taiwo who played brilliantly for Marseille and then got signed by AC Milan so must be good but as then written off after two matches (or even less from some supporters). I'm looking forward to seeing who the next one game wonder is. Evens favourite is Tommy Smith, marginally ahead of Samba Diakite. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Mackie on 12:17 - Feb 13 with 390 views | WestbourneR | Flavour of the week syndrome will always happen that's the fickle nature of football don't fight it Northern! It's simple with Mackie. He badly lacks some aspects of technical ability and they are brutally exposed on the wing. He should never ever play right wing again. I have been a critic of his ability at this level (never his attitude) and I stand by it. However he comes alive in the box and his rather 'short sighted' dribbling style pays dividends. Plus his accurate shooting, his greatest asset, really comes into play. With Cisse out and Dj seemingly out of favour then Mackie has to start. Bobby Z was crying for someone to play closer too him. It's now clear Mackie is a centrally positioned striker. Taraabt is gonna have to take either the left wing or right wing berth. Have to say SWP is looking very very poor now. Last thoughts - Buzz will be flavour of the week again, you can just never throw him in straight after a lay off and he does have far too many lay offs. If we had 11 Mackies we'd lose every game from now on. You need to mix quality with commitment - it's about a blend. [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

unfortunately you've summed up QPR Players though Clive.. they are so inconsistent that any above average performance of 23 minutes or more must be hailed by all fans a the next great hope.. its all we have.. dont you see?
