Franchise fans got to get this off my chest 10:56 - Jan 18 with 7455 viewsloftboy

Firstly I can understand kids and teenagers supporting them as they know no difference but last night there were a fair few groups of 40 something's, now I can't see them being Ex Wimbledon fans do who the hell were they supporting 10 years ago and why change?
Secondly singing songs like " sit down or we'll steal your club" isn't funny and can't they see what is wrong with it.

Fantastic support for a L1 side? I'd expect a League 1 side in an FA Cup tie away to a Premier League team to sell out straight away.

The problem with McDons is, as pointed out above, they cheated their way to the level they're at. If MK wanted a professional football club then fine, Winkleman could have invested in MK City or one of the other grassroots teams already in the city. And then pumped some money in and worked their way up the pyramid like everyone else has to.

It's a disgrace and it's alarming that many QPR fans are happy to just forget about the past and let them off the hook.

Totally agree, also lets not forget it could have been MK Rangers - lest those above forget.

I don't care if they are well run I don't care how well they play on the pitch or how good the ground is how whether the city can support football at the top level, it's all irrelevent cos of how they were formed by that scumbag.

"they attracted 19,500" No, they didn't. They attracted 13,500 as we had 6,000 there ourselves.

well yes they did - they attracted 19,500 fans to the game. 5000 may have been QPR but that isnt bad going for a club that formed in 2004 and are in league 1. We didnt attract 13,500 every week last season en route to promotion!!!

The fact is they were playing better football than us for most of the game last night and did in the first game. They have a young keen manager who seems to get them playing well and they seemed exceptional for a Div. 1 side. If you are not committed to another team and live in or near MK why wouldn't you want to follow them.

The history of how they were formed is nothing to do with the current manager or players and the guy who owns the club seems to have done what he said he would when he set them up. Wimbledon have their own club now which appears to be thriving, so I don't get why the football community can't just let them get on with it. We have enough problems of our own at QPR (which I hope will be solved soon) to be worrying about clubs like this now we have managed to get past them and our 11 year hoodo.

Probably because the wider football community knows that the way that club was formed WAS TOTALLY WRONG and an insult to football clubs the world over!

Was this their first competitve away game against a Premiership team? Also, they're on a real high at the moment so that'll add to the interest. Had they been down the bottom of the table and tonked week in week out then maybe they wouldn't have brought so many. But then we might not have needed a replay either.

"Over 3,000" ITV exclaimed. PMSL, it was 1,900. Still good but not exactly a difficult journey.

And according to their website they had sold 1,350 in two days. Then were given a further 1,800+++ with 800 of them being available at the turnstiles. So by my reckoning they claim to have sold circa 2,300-2,400. It turns out they brought 1,916.And a weird bunch they were and all.

I agree with the above and I do believe the way they were formed was a disgrace. Especially when a precedent had been set with Rushden & Diamonds.

But the current staff, players and fans at MK have, for the most part, nothing to do with that. For a L1 side, they are doing well and are playing attractive football for that level. I can see why the residents of a large town 30 minutes away from any other League club would be tempted to go to their modern stadium.

Once you've settled on a club, I see no reason to switch allegiance. There 's a large enough contingent of QPR supporters in Derbyshire. That's a lot further from London than MK. Nearly all of us have links to the QPR catchment area and I can't see many of us tempted to switch to Derby County or Chesterfield.

We had both blocks, almost 8,000 fans, where you get 5,000 from I don't know as we officially sold at least 1,000 more than that.

Quite appropriate a made up club for a made up town.If they really wanted a league club could have started at the bottom like AFC and Aldershot have done. What would happen if Al Fayed decides to quit Fulham and Prince Charles likes the idea of a football team in Cornwall.Buys them and relocates to Penzance or Truro both places with large enough populations to fill a 40k stadium would it make it right and would people on here say whats the problem with that. This is England not USA sports teams are not Franchises you can pick up and put down where it suits.

Just to let you know a little more about the supposed francising. this year sees AFC celebrate thier 10th anniversary of starting, we only celebrate our 8th year of becoming MK.strange that, they were offered their club for a pound but didnt want to know as they already started AFC.As for the Mk City argument their chairman had already got rid of that a few years before when he took it over.As a Portsmouth fan who now lives miles away I now support my local team MK Dons and am proud to do so, they do so much in Mk that none of you know about .Just to say about the name, we still have a few Wimbledon fans whocome and they have always said they never want to see the name dropped as which ever way you want to look at it it is still their old club.

It seems a few on here have forgotten or didn't know that when we were in the sh!t 10 years ago, Winkleman tried it on with us.

So you could all have been travelling up to MK to watch some Frankenstein's Monster version of QPR. Mk Rangers? Still, it didn't happen to us so who gives a f*ck about Wimbledon......

Mk Dons are not/never will be a football club. Thay are the bastards of the football world. I wish them every footballing ill going. Those people following them last night are not football fans.

It's not about their history or lack of it, it's about Hayes & Yeading, Wrexham, Basingstoke etc. Every other club trying to better themselves, having that small opportunity of hope.

Not stealing another club and making it your own.

F*ck off and die 'Mk Dons'.

NAIL HIT HEAD

Shocking to see some our fans saying good stuff about this vile little fake club and that we should forget about and it doesn't matter how they got where there are.

Pete Winkleman is and always will be one of my most despised men in football

Then start another one. Why does MK deserve to skip the queue and go straight in to the professional leagues when everyone else has to work their way up the pyramid?

I can only tell what they say,and as on Tues they still wear their colours and come to all the matches home and away.If that is their feelings who have any of us the right to tell them they are wrong. To me MK Dons are the team I support and I think its wrong to keep blaming the fans and players that are now there as a lot of them have no idea what went on

A lot of them have no idea what went wrong because they are not fans. You usurped a position wrongfully and benefitted from the death of the real wimbledon. AFC is the valid continuation of that name. I will blame and am disgusted by everything to do with that "club". The players don't care but fans and owners made a choice and for that they are scum.

Agreed.

Wonder how these MK Dons fans would feel if in 10 years a very rich wimbledon fan buys there club and moves it back to london.

I hate everything to do with MK Dons. The pain and hurt this caused to decent fans who maybe not large in number were very loyal to wimbledon. Why did they deserve to have to start x amoutn of divisiond below league two. Yes they made the best of it and a lot of non league clubs made a lot of money out of it but that doesn't make it right.

The fact that only recentley has winklemen handed over the fa cup they won after being threatend with legal action just shows what a sub human scumbag he is. I wouldnt bet on MK Dons being a well run club. Just remember what winklement told everyone when he attempted to buy and move us up to milton keyenes. The consortuim had about 5 mill altogether.
