They’re tweeting that their “matchday operations” are being restricted for the home game against Barrow on Sunday for reasons that they don’t want to divulge at the moment.
The bottom line is that the crowd capacity is limited to 920 and there will be no cash admissions on the day.
Wonder what that’s all about?

"Well the old saying “ actions speak louder than words “ rings very true in this case. Everything the football club has done since the start of our season has been to marginalise Hornets. Even the dogs in the street know that. I can’t believe that the lease is so full of holes that it allows the football club to basically trash Hornet’s season. Maybe now it’s time for m’learned friends to get involved. It’s gone beyond talking in my estimation!.

Do dogs really give a sh** about Rochdale Hornets?
Yesterday's attendance suggests most of the town doesn't.

Why is the lease, negotiated by former Hornets directors "so full of holes"? Were they useless? Has that poster seen said lease? He seems to imagine m’learned friends will help his winsome fantasy. RAFC and the Dale Trust have had LOTS of conversations with m’learned friends over the past 12 months or so, and will be more familiar with the "devil in the details" than Tyrone's guesswork ever will.

"I worked for the stadium company for 6 years. This was when the football club only owned 45% of the stadium. On a Monday morning after a rugby match I would know that I would face abuse from Russ Green CEO and David Bottomley a Director I welcomed the opportunity to correct them It was not difficult. Now that they own the club it can only be worse. They are totally different people but the pathetic behaviour remains. "

That's an interesting post in there in that it names 2 names. Unless the poster has used their real name at the top of the thread it risks being taken down.

Fair play to that poster going into that organisation for so long knowing their Monday blues would be made even worse if Hornets had played at home.

A bit like alleged sightings of the Loch Ness monster, Aliens or Bigfoot, its always worth a fact check.

1. I worked for the stadium company for 6 years. (A factual statement)

2. This was when the football club only owned 45% of the stadium (So before March 2016 when the club bought the whole ground)

3. On a Monday morning after a rugby match I would know that I would face abuse from Russ Green CEO and David Bottomley a Director I welcomed the opportunity to correct them It was not difficult.

David Bottomley - Director 29th June 2015 to 1st June 2021
Russ Green - Directors 9th January 2017 to 11th July 2018

Green joined the club in August 2016: https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2016/august/russ-green-appointed-as-rochdale-

Green left the club in 2018: https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2018/july/statement--russ-green-update/

So, if we believe this person:

1. They worked for the stadium company before it was bought in March 2016
2. They faced abuse from Russ Green who didn't join the club until August 2016.

March 2016 vs August 2016. There's no mention of the time machine.

C-, must try harder and would have had more plausibility if they'd referenced the Loch Ness Monster.

It was obvious from your very first post you’re a Hornets fan masquerading as a Dale fan. It’s quite easy to spot. We had a bury fan that did it for years and he was worked out fairly quickly every time too.

Must try harder.

More good detective work, RAFCBLUE.

I suppose I was too ready to believe it in that the behaviour reported was not too dissimilar to anecdotes coming out of the club at that time.

Good idea.

New user, signs up right in the middle of the Hornets/Dale spat and only comments on Hornets stuff trying to paint the football club in a bad light. Hmmm.

I don’t do friendlies so didn’t go to the Port Vale game. How did we play?

Not winding us up, more like pissing my sides laughing at the stupidity of some of the most pathetic and stupid people on the internet. They provide great entertainment, similar in entertainment value to the supporters of the football club formerly known as Bury FC. None of the rugby fans I know blame the Dale for anything that is happening to the rugby club.

Some noise about this online this morning:

We probably do need an update now, specifically as Hornets have come out saying its due to "new terms proposed by Rochdale AFC make it commercially unviable".

Be amazed if there is no rebuttal of this from the club by close of play today. I'd guess that's the end of any goodwill that ever existed too. Anyone know how much longer is left on the lease?

I suspect the Englad v Fiji game was outside the terms of the lease with Hornets and based on a separate agreement.

It could be that given the time period since the original date for the gameDale have set a new price. The agreement for the original gamewill have been negotiated by the previous board.

Given we are a ‘fan owned’ club its perhaps important the fans are provided with information on what has happened and why….if only to deal with the negative publicity that will come with this unfortunate development.

There is and it's damning.

Due to Covid-19, the 2021 fixture was postponed on public safety grounds and rescheduled to 2022.

Following a request by the CEO of Rochdale Council to both parties to do our best to agree a commercial agreement which covered all safety considerations and in the spirit of a working relationship, Head of Terms for the international fixture were provided by RAFC to Andy Mazey and Steve Kerr of Rochdale Hornets in March 2022.

These terms were never accepted. Instead on 19 April 2022, Rochdale Hornets chose to launch a legal action under the 2016 Lease against RAFC relating to the fixture pre-action letter of claim sent in accordance with the Practice Direction Pre-Action Conduct and Protocols of the Civil Procedure Rules 1998.

That legal action was subsequently withdrawn by Rochdale Hornets on 21 June 2022, since as there was no commercial agreement ever in place to host an international fixture and that the fixture was not covered by the 2016 Lease, there was and is no obligation forced on RAFC to host an international fixture without full safety provisions being in place alongside due commercial compensation for all costs doing so given the safety certificate for the international fixture and thus responsibilities under it all fall on RAFC.

Rochdale Council look to have tried to get parties to work together.

RAFC offered terms.

Hornets sent a legal letter.

£1 for a charity of someone's choice says that it won't be at the club, because it's not part of their lease.

There will be a number of genuine Hornets fans who will be shocked at today's developments.

https://www.hornetsrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1121/rochdale-hornets-will-no-longe

Here's some help for questions they might want to ask Mazey and Kerr:

1. Unfortunately, new terms proposed by Rochdale AFC render the event commercially unviable, and despite significant efforts to overcome this, Rochdale Hornets are now unable to host the event.

What were the terms and how come if playing the game at Rochdale was unviable, how can playing it at Salford be more viable?

2. We wanted to bring England to the borough of Rochdale and our ambition was to stage an event similar to the sell-out Ireland versus Fiji fixture in 2013.

Why were the terms offered not accepted if that "want" was real?

3. This is important, as any tickets transferred directly benefit Rochdale Hornets and will support our hosting costs.

Why do tickets for a game in Salford benefit Rochdale Hornets when Rochdale Hornets could not agree a deal AND sent a legal letter having been offered terms?

I'm beginning to think that Captain Sabotage might have some competition.
