Stockport at home end of the 2000-01 season. Lost 3-0 and the players that were out of contract after that game clearly showed that they had no intention of hanging around once the season had ended leaving Holloway with 9 players two of whom were truely crocked. It was the realisation that within 7 seasons we had gone from a top five PL club to a pile of steaming dog chocolate and with the reality that it could get much worse. | |

Forget the season, 1994?, but Clive Wilson got sent off early on for what seemed an innocuous foul - referees' tougher interpretation of new FIFA rules based on World Cup experience. I think it was the same game where Sir Les raced through to score but Steve Bruce had lazily moved up and signalled to the linesman that Sir Les was offside - (reader, he wasn't!) - at Old Trafford, lino and ref had no choice but to obey, did they?

Last home game of the season 2003, we were at home against Crewe who needed a point for automatic promotion.
A lot at stake because if we beat them then there would be 1 game left that season and it between us, Crewe and someone else for automatic promotion.
Crewe playacting and diving all day long. The ref is buying it every fücking time.
I was in Lower Loft Block LL with a great view of Clarke Carlisle jumping up with their keeper Ince to compete for the ball. He would've scored if he'd got to it. Ince rolls around like he's been shot, 2nd yellow for Carlisle and all he did was jump up to try and win the ball.
It finished 0-0, Crewe got promoted the bunch of fücking cheats. |

Southampton Away Fa Cup 1992:
Just 3 days after THAT game at Old Trafford we put in what has to be one of the worst performances of the 90s by any Rangers side. It has become a bit of a cliche to say that we were definitely good enough to win a cup between 1988 to 1995 and there were a few times which stand out where we blew any chance but that game at The Dell was even lower than Stockport in my opinion.
Everton away - Simod Cup Semi Final 89
If we had won a lesser cup or 2 - as Palace did - during the same period I don't think we would look back with so much feeling of 'if only'. I didn't go to this match and have no idea how we played but it remained the closest we got to a trip to Wembley between 86 and 14 and we deserved a day out. |  | | |
