He clearly doesn't have a development policy nor a transfer strategy, that's what the club do. So that leaves us with his tactical ability, motivation and coaching as we see it on a matchday.
For me he is tactically niave at times but does display an ability to change thugs quickly when they are going wrong. I like him as a person from what I can gauge, and enjoy his increased understanding of English. I think he is average but average this season may well be best for us all round.
Will he last the season ?

We could have asked for little more from him than he delivered last season, although some are desperate to find fault with everything he does.
For me he needs to stand up for himself a little more with the club, although if he was the kind of manager to do that he probably wouldn't have got the job in the first place. |
Good point about him sticking up for himself most managers will bring in players that he can trust and to help to get the rest of the squad playing in his favoured style, which of our signings is one of his signings none I think and the one that was has long gone home. In my opinion he has had no support from HJ or the new board. Fair enough we spent 15 million on Baston but failed to upgrade the supporting cast and over the last 2 years have failed to evolve the squad and are still scratching around for 2-5 million pound bargains. Our most consistent players over a number of years have been Williams, Leon and Rangel one has gone and the other two are ageing but we have made half hearted attempts to find replacements. Inconsistent players we have had loads Naughton, Shelvey, Fer, Montero Routledge Ki Cork, Fernandez and Barrow(at least he has a crack) add to all that signing strikers who are clearly not good enough although we were spoilt with Michu and Wilf and our third striker is an inexperienced Mcburnie as for Llorente good supply or not he doesn't seem up to the task.. We seem to be heading towards being in a Sunderland like rut which once you get into is really hard to get out of I am at a loss as to what we need to do but one thing for sure is the players need to start putting in an effort or they will be plying their trade at a lower level. I think hes against the 4-3-3 because like the rest of us, he knows how poor our defenders are, its why we try and play defensively. Unfortunately for him, his best defender, top goalscorer and number of other playing options were sold out from underneath him with virtually no real quality brought in to replace.
The squad have seen this and recognise the issue. Its why there is zero confidence amongst them. Players ike Gylfi dont turn shite overnight.
Our mindset as a squad and as a club has been ruined by those who are now multimillionaires by cashing in. It all starts from the top im afraid. People can ruin FG if they want, but their anger should be directed elsewhere. |

It so obvious maybe there are those who cannot and don't want to see the wood through the trees, as it were.
Expect more dire football between now and January. Then we'll see what these yanks are made of. If their up for it they'll fire Huw and Leigh well before then. They'll give FG and opportunity to get us there with damage limitation and as many point in the bag as possible as well as identifying footballers who will contribute and IMPROVE what we have. And then recruit accordingly and hope we are not too far adrift.
