Being as its Johnny Lydons 60th this weekend and the 40th Birthday of punk this Year. It would be remiss not to post our favourite punk/New wave tunes.

I remember when Punk first made the news. And the news included the clashes between Teds and Punks. In my junior school at the time St Mary's RC school in Hammersmith we used to have ' gang warfare' every play time. We'd split off into 2 big groups and in the toilets using water we'd either tease up our hair into Quifs or into a spikey hedgehog look. Then we'd go to battle in the playground..We were ten or under.. I remember it well because it was the first time I punched someone in the face and knocked him down,,He was my best mate too , but he was a punk and I was a ted so something had to give It was'nt a knock out punch or nothing he was just shocked that I'd gone that further step and punched him in the face and he went down on one knee to gather his thoughts . To me tho it was as good a punch as my Hero ALI had ever thrown...

Well, there are few boundaries I s'pose.
Sorry for lager fuelled pique. I've always quite liked the track, but 'tis my belief it has 'no place here '.
No worries. It is a bit limp-wristed compared to most of the rest of the tunes in the thread. I suppose I think of the Associates being New Wave because they were around in the late 70's. Whereas really they do sound more like a New Romantic Band from 10 years later.
Anway, great thread and it's reminding me of bands I had totally forgotten - Spizz and Theatre of Hate being two I've just noticed.

Captivating .
and as no one else has slung it up, my number one song in heaven..
Death Disco is such a quality track.
The last two PIL albums have both been superb. I'm desperate to see them live again but have had to miss the last couple of tours for one reason or another. They are playing in Santander, Spain in May this year, and sod law dictates I arrive two days later, and I'm still away and miss the rest of the UK dates.

Some fantastic very early Adam Ant footage here. Saw him at Hammersmith the other year. Superb
Yeh, hard to believe Adam and the Ants were originally punks. They had some proper hardcore fans as well. I wonder what they did with their tattoos when he started on that Prince Charming stuff

Hang on. Nobody said we could have B52s! Their early stuff is fcuking mental. And Talking Heads are one of my all time favourites. With that in mind...
I defy you all not to feel strange urges watching Cindy Wilson go-go dancing.

Personally, Adam was covered over with a shark in 1982.

you might have a few years on me but my cousin is Mick Herbage from Department s. I used to listen to his records round our nans front room in ilford .
He wore so much hairspray back then his head stuck to my nans antimaccaser.
Did he find Vic?

I've posted this a couple of times before (apologies). Sounds like crap until about 20 seconds in, then boom!
Love this preppy sound and tight, tight production!
