Big day for big crowds as football is back with a bang. Swans latest !
Sunday, 6th Aug 2023 08:00 by @Cornish67David

Nothing happens immediately in football, and no matter the amount of money spent players take time to bed in to a new club. Their families find themselves in new surroundings, kids in a new school and there’s much to take in.

The after thoughts of yesterdays game can only be positive, and as we stated yesterday in time the season opener against Birmingham City may well be looked back on as a point earned. The Swans have young men with a lot of responsibility on their shoulders. A slightly disappointing turn out from the home support didn’t diminish from the noise generated by the home fans. The second half especially saw the Swans roared on as they showed their potential against a very well drilled and fairly expensive Blues side. They will most certainly not suffer any fears of relegation this season, and on their pre season showing and in yesterdays game they could well be a surprise package.

In fact the EFL saw huge crowds yesterday. In the championship the nine games drew some very positive turn outs with a lot of optimism about. With Over 21.7 million supporters passing through the turnstiles EFL in 2022-23, with the highest cumulative attendances recorded for league matches since 1953-54 the Swans have to capitalise on this area of the clubs income stream. Last season EFL League one broke in to the top ten attended leagues in Europe.

Yesterday in the Championship

Last season.

The usual gathering of idiots were evident yesterday as well. A West Brom follower making visible stabbing gestures during his sides defeat at Ewood Park. The video circulates as ever on social media. Of course he could have been showing the home supporters his recent scar from an apendix operation, there’s bound to be more on this.

You can watch the highlights of yesterdays draw at the Swansea.Com Stadium below.

And of course Michael Duff’s reaction post match.

The Swans take on Northampton Town at the Swansea.Com on Tuesday evening in the league cup.
