Swansea City new signing, and yes there are more to come
Saturday, 22nd Jun 2024 08:00 by Swansea Independent

Gautier Ott seems only days away from signing a three year deal with Swansea City after some intense work by Sporting Director, Paul Watson and Head Of Recruitment Martin Hodge. The twenty two year old has provisionally agreed terms on his contract with Swansea having to negotiate the rest of the finer print with his club, Académico de Viseu. They will then bring the young French player to west Wales.

To make your morning a bit sunnier here is a clip of Gautier.

Académico de Viseu play in the second tier of Portuguese football and Ott has played in thirty three games this past season with two goals and seven assists. Club manager, Jorge Costa will be reluctant to see his star leave but the deal plus the players desire to come to Swansea is a positive for both clubs.

We featured the news on Gautier yesterday.

⚽️ —> Gautier Ott to sign for the Swans ?

Brett Cravatt who joined the Swans board last year with numerous strings to his bow, including a statistical approach to data science has been a part of the research on the player, as he was with Ronald who signed in January. With the Swans divesting more shares this week, backed by the LLC in the USA, last years key investor, Nigel Morris now see’s his shareholding fall from the original 19.43% in July 2023 to 12.59% this morning. Swansea City have utilised this type of funding already this year to back up club losses. Then there is an emphasis too to put more momentum into the transfer business the club want to complete this summer.

Gautier is described as a player with pace and strength by the countries leading football newspaper, Abola - and he has been watched on numerous occasions this year. With the ink ready to be stamped on his new deal the Swans are still actively pursuing three players. It’s fairly obvious one will be a goalkeeper, but we understand the club haven’t dismissed another loan for a stopper over the coming weeks. All options are open still. The Swans have received inquiries for three of their own players in the past ten days. This has already been confirmed by head coach, Luke Williams. Nothing concrete so far, but the transfer market it seems is ready to start moving. One of the players inquired about we understand is a defender, and our immediate response was Nathan Wood. Another player who attracted attention last season was Azeem Abdulai, however his long injury lay off will require more summer treatment even though he played towards the end of the season.

Gautier, albeit only around 5’8” prefers to operate on the left hand side of the park and is predominantly left footed. He can also fill in within a defensive unit. How this latest transfer news affects Przemyslaw Placheta who is out of contract very soon (with no new offers on the table) and recovering slowly from a bad hamstring injury received towards the end of last season we don’t know. Luke Williams has held the door slightly ajar for Placheta despite his long recovery time, However, the Swans it seems will be announcing their second signing from Portugal this year some time early next week.

It’s a good start to the weekend, and it seems more good news is to come.
