Swans ready to strike and complete their first transfer this window ? Monday, 8th Jan 2024 12:24 by Liam Walters We first referenced Will Evans as being of interest to the Swans back in November, then it was a straight race between Swansea City and Huddersfield Town by all accounts. Today it seems possible Evans has voted to stay in Wales. Evans can play at wing back or striker, and he has carried out both roles for Newport County since joining from Bala Town in 2022. His goal return isn’t remarkable, however seventeen goals in seventy seven appearances makes him a one in four goalscorer. His variety of roles played at Newport could go some way to explaining his lack of goals. He’s been deployed at wing back, left midfield, left wing and striker for the Exiles. However, it’s this season that Evans has shot to prominence, fifteen goals to date when in a more advanced role most certainly seems to be his preferred position ( striker or left winger ) You can’t argue with his prowess in front of goal even at Bala. Some of those early goals are stunning. Rumours are circulating that the Swans have won the race for his signature. The Welsh born product started life at Cardiff Met and the leap forwards to the championship is a risk. If the finer contractual detail is sorted today and tomorrow with the Exiles happy to accept in the region of five hundred thousand pounds with add ons we could see Will at Fairwood very shortly.
