Belgium International Linked With St Mary's Move Friday, 27th Jul 2018 09:30 Again Saints are being linked with another winger/forward and again it's Newcastle United we are said to be in competition with for the signature.
Saints seem to be looking for a player that can be used out wide or in a more central role if you believe the press reports who seem to link us with just about every player on the Continent who can play in this position.
The reality is that most of the links probably have little substance in that although we may well have ran the potential signings through our famous black box, we don't seem to have gone too much further down the line with most of them.
With only a fortnight left of our transfer window agents are desperately trying to put their clients in the shop window and get the a lucrative move to a Premier League club, hence there will be plenty more links to come yet.
The latest is Anthony Limbombe who is currently on the books of Belgium giants Club Brugge.
Limbombe is said to have been on the verge of signing for Huddersfield but the player was unable to agree a deal over a transfer said to be in the region of £11 million.
Limbombe has history in Yorkshire with Leeds trying to sign him from his then club NEC Nijmegen in August 2015 and when that deal fell through with Leeds unwilling to increase their offer Limbombe spent time "removed" from the NEC squad as he was deemed as not being focused.
Leeds came back the following summer but it was Club Brugge who signed the player for around £2 million.
His form last season earned him a cap for the Belgium team at full international level in a friendly back in March and raised his profile, however whether he is truly Premier League quality is yet to be seen.
I would think that Saint priority is in signing a forward rather than a winger and that being the case and that with Limbombe being primarily a winger and no better than the ones we already have on our books that this is more agent talk than anything else.

I'm not sure that we will get any strikers TBH. I'm not sure that there is anyone worth buying that fits our wallet. The last thing we need is another Carillio. Leon Best is available on a free I think!

I have a horrible feeling you are right Jesus. If the new attacking m/f options are good it may help the likes of Gabbi score more but it is a big IF. Have we learnt our lesson and ditched the complacency of the last couple of years? Time will tell. A decent Pelle like CF and a good, experienced CB would make me feel a lot better - but I doubt we will get either...

Can someone tell me what happened to Wesley Promes, so much in vogue last January and sounded just the 'all round' forward we needed then and still now. Okay he was expensive but its about time we had an outstanding player and he seemed the best qualified - has he lost form, been injured, sold to another club or retired from football altogether

It seems to me that there is a big shortage of quality strikers around right now, but we may be OK with what we have got under a new boss with new tactics. Gabbi can score 15 a season if supported well. Long may score more with a more positive game plan. Austin may weigh in with 10. We just need to stop shipping 2 or 3 goals a game.

I was wondering if I could get a response from members of team ugly on their thoughts on these continued fake news & in my view Fraudulent transfer story's? after all news outlets that pubish them are selling advertising articals base on their readers foot fall. This being the case isn't fair that the pubishers has a duty of care to undertake some form checks so that all story pubish is factual bases to them. and isn't also time that readers are paid to watch advertisers if we are force to watch them before gaining access to the artical that interest them?

I agree with you "Buy Eastleigh "...looking at some stories that emerge it looks like a lot of the them are just FAKE NEWS dressed up to look like info. from someone who is I.T.N. All media outlets want to be first with a story (like something out of an old b/w movie "..hold the front page, here is the new headline "....and whilst a few trusted newspaper columists may be reliable, many others just copy the story with their own headline. A lot of these impressive sounding names are little more than a schoolkid running a site from his bedroom computer and many are pure fantasy...or just plain ridiculous. Of course, it takes time to work out who is who and how reliable their "predictions" are but one conspiracy theory is that some of them are just "agents for agents " who want to move their player(s) and the panic sets in when clubs think they must chase someone who is being watched by someone else. Having read "Moi "s comment that Saints had been watching him for 6 years..it seems that the Black Box doesn't suddenly pick out a name like a lottery winner, and the likes of Boufal and Carrillo were purely buys to placate a manager, rather than someone who had finally come to the top of the list. In my experience most of the players who Saints do "eventually " sign aren't those who appear as stories on these sites, but often someone we have never heard of.

I'm optimistically putting Exiled, Sell Eastleigh and Under West's contributions together to make the Promes deal come through -and maybe greedily Cilinc's too -then we shouldn't need to worry about those goal scoring options for the season ahead, and can watch some new stars emerge from the bench, like we used to.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Swansea City Polls |
