Saints Could Again Be In For Leeds United Starlet Tuesday, 29th Dec 2015 14:34 Saints could be looking to add to the squad in January by bringing in highly rated Leeds United youngster Sam Byram
Sam Byram is once again being linked with Premier League clubs including Saints after failing to agree and sign a new contract with the Eland Road club meaning that he could become a free agent at the end of the season, although as the player is still only 22 there would be a development fee.
But that would be far less than Leeds would get now and they could try to cash in during the January window and Saints could again be interested given their alleged interest in the summer.
Byram can play as either a right back, right winger or as a more conventional right sided midfielder and this is why he would appeal to Ronald Koeman who clearly feels he has a problem especially at right back where no one seems to have really made the spot their own 100% yet this season.
Saints would face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, with sources in Yorkshire saying the Anfield club would be favourite, although the fact that he would be immediately in contention for a regular place in Ronald Koeman;s side could sway it in Saints favour.
Byram in many respects could draw parallels with Nathaniel Clyne in the fact that if he joined Saints he would have good experience at Championship level to ggive him good grounding, he has made over 125 appearances for Leeds since his debut 3 years ago,

We desperately need a right back. The number of goals we have conceded in that position is ludicrous!!

I really hope business is done early, whenever saints have identified their targets and got them over the line immediately- they have always been a success. The squad desperately needs a boost and I feel Koeman does aswell. If we can somehow get Gaston and caulker out in the window, and get another striker/winger in and in an ideal world a centre back/full back of actual quality who will play or seriously contend with existing starters. And not loan deals,we need investment of actual substance and quality.

Liverhampton have first refusal on every player coming to the premier league so lets make them pay big money in Jan before they have a chance of selling anyone, he looks a very good player but he is not the answer this season, give Caulker the chance he is far better than Yosh in that position, I hope Forster comes back soon, coyr

Byram looks like a great RB contender. All three of the players we've tried in that position have allowed easy goals getting scored, Yosh, Soares and Martina. We so, so much miss Clyne. We also need a forward with killer instincts, we need our Vardy, or Ighalo or Lukaku. Another contender from the Championship is still waiting in the wings...Charlie Austin. He will be desperate to show his skills again in the PL, he can't be any worse than the inconsistency we had at this time.

We will definitely have 2 new signings in January - Fraser Forster and Florin Gardos !! Remember them anyone ? That will mean Stek or Gazza on the bench and Caulker or Yoshi being surplous to requirements. Could do with getting Byram in and a winger (perhaps Redmond who we face on Saturday, or Gray from Brum) and perhaps another option up front. We should also have a bit of a clear out - but sell only those we want to !!

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Swansea City Polls |
