Sam Gallagher Linked With Move To Wolves
Friday, 24th Jul 2015 14:25

According to latest reports Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be keen on Saints striker Sam Gallagher.

Wolves want to take Sam Gallagheron loan according to the latest media rumours and to be honest it would probably be a good move for both the player and for Southampton Football Club.

At 20 Gallagher is at an age where he needs to be breaking through to the first team, he did do that 18 months ago when under Mauricio Pochettino he got game time mainly due to the injury to Jay Rodriguez and he showed that he has got something with a couple of goals including one in the Premier league.

However a knee injury kept him out for most of 2014/15 although he did return to score a spectacular winning goal for the Saints U21 side in a televised U21 Premier League cup final.

Although he has featured on this summers pre season tour, the reality is that at the moment his path forward is somewhat blocked with Pelle, Mane, Long, Rodriguez & Juanmi all in front of him and he needs game time.

Now would probably be the right time to put him out on loan to give him that experience and let him learn his trade in a good standard of football but with the option to recall him if neccesary.

Wolves would fit that bill being a decent Championship Club and I hope that these rumours are true and that he get the opportunity to show what his potential is.

We seem to have a decent relationship with Swindon, so if this doesn't come off, hopefully he could get time there.

Please make sure we get a recall clause in there.. like we didnt with Boruc

BOruc was different he was miffed about being ousted as first choice and insisted that he would not come back in an emergency

Big hopes for Sam, I think a loan to the right club would be good for the lad but we may need him in Pelle runs into issues

We've got Jay Rodrigues and Shane Long so Sam is well down the order. Sterling is what? 18, Sam is 20 so is getting left behind and truth be told he probably isn't quite good enough for the PL. If he goes to Wolves it's probably a try before you buy arrangement

A move to a promotion chasing championship club would be an ideal move for s g.sterling is actually 20 but I don't think we should comparing. Loaning players out to learn & strengthen is surely the right path. Look how many of our players left too soon & haven't really realised there full potential

Cant agree with SaintBrock. Players are dismissed too soon these days and Sam has bags of potential. Look at Lambert. If he moves on Loan playing regularly in a successfull side is the key. I'd prefer a L1 side that smashes goals in than a struggling Championship side.

I'm not convinced about Gallagher. Would love to be proved wrong, so I think a successful loan move may be the only answer. We're too strong upfront right now to even consider using him.
