An Eventful Journey To Aldershot Saturday, 26th Feb 2011 13:03 by portvale4ever I have followed Port Vale for 34 years now, and in that time there has been some shockingly amateurish behaviour from the club, but yesterdays incident involving Jim Gannon and Geoff Horsfield on the Team coach travelling to Aldershot tops the lot. Do events need explaining? Is there anybody with the tiniest interest in football who is not aware of what happened yesterday? I doubt it. It's been everywhere. For anybody who was not on this planet yesterday Gannon and Horsefield apparently had a bit of a 'disagreement' on the coach as it made it's way down the M1, Gannon got off the coach at a service station, and returned to Vale Park with a 'representative'. Horsefield got off the coach some miles later, and presumably returned home. This has been brewing since the moment Gannon arrived. He has seemingly been hell-bent on causing a fight since day one, the coaching staff and many of the squad dislike him and his methods intensely, and it's probably safe to say that yesterdays situation was coming. What's Chairman Bill Bratt doing about it? Nowt at the moment. He has deferred until Monday dealing with Gannon and Horsfield, and that really isn't good enough. Personally, like 99% of Vale Fans, I would love to see Gannon go. He has been an utter disaster from the beginning, and has somehow made himself more unpopular with the Fans than even Dean Glover. That takes some doing. I don't see this happening though. The Board gave him an 18 month contract, and will no doubt back their man. The Horse I suspect may well find himself unemployed on Monday, so may well be at Stockport County come Tuesday. Gannon will be at todays game at Aldershot. For the first time in all my years following The Vale I want us to lose. I want Gannon out of Port Vale Football Club.
