I particularly liked this one -

Swansea were garbage. And boring garbage to boot. Honest to God, as bad as the Reds have been this season, I couldn't stomach watching a team like Swansea week in, week out.
Beautiful game, my arse.

Mind you the thoughts of a Yorkshireman are hardly to be held in that high esteem of late 😂

Looks like every club has their little bunch who just don't understand patience and tiring the opposition out....its a little comfort that there are fellow posters on other sites coming out with classics that eventually end up taking their foot out of their mouths.

Maybe we can make a little forum for these clowns and we can send our lot with all the other clubs "twp" posters to put each other straight.

Thing is we all probably agree the passing was over done. We could have gone for the throat. But, fans moaning about us, when they should be more concerned about what the didn’t do to stop it does make me laugh.

“It was truly horrible to watch. I think Swansea bored our players into submission. Which is just another way of losing - we've mastered everything else.

Aside from our total inability to offer anything, I would absolutely hate to watch Swansea if that's how they play. Very very boring.”

And

“What was really odd was it taking over an hour for them to change tact. Surely Swansea don't play like that every week? That was an utterly dismal, Italy in the 90s tactic. Very weird when they have the players to walk all over us.”

Hmmm! Obviously they don’t understand “possession football” ? Apparently.

I think they understand what the objective of a football game is though. Pretty perceptive comments.

Great result, but wasn’t great to watch. Constantly passing at the back is not exciting, but Barnsley can take some of the blame as they were the home side and didn’t look like they wanted to venture outside their own half.

Tiring out the opposition?,if you was an opposition manager who knew anything about football or done your homework on us,as we play 80 to 90 per cent of the football in our own half, then I would tell my players ,leave them have it and do what they want with it there, and drop deep instead of chasing, let them come and break us down when we are compact and deeper.its not rocket science, these teams got their centre forwards doing doggys back and for when Bennett or manning are passing it to Hamer then into naughton and chasing, let them have it, and drop deeper eventually they can bring ball so far, but would have to pass into a compact midfield or hit long, even if our midfield went deep to pick it up ,as sometimes downes or grimes do,let them go,instead these teams chase ,and then get dragged out position.making it easy to pass around them,no need to chase and tire if you sat deep and compact you wouldn't then get dragged everywhere,if players go deep don't follow them where they can't hurt us,that's what I'd be telling players ,before they played a team like us.

The first half wasn't great to watch. We were also lacking Ntcham for it. As soon as he came on we looked loads better, which is precisely the thing. We don't have the right squad depth in the final third yet.

Those demanding immediate champagne football continually (deliberately in some cases, out of idiocy in others) miss that point. We knew this was a project. You cannot build a Premier League promotion winning squad playing that style overnight. The last time we did it it took about six years all in, albeit starting from further back.

To be where we are now, playing like we are now is good going. Get the acquisitions right in the next window or two and we will almost certainly kick on again.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Grimes and Downes playing so deep is clearly working against the less clever opposition. I'm pretty sure our management team are rehearsing our counter model against the stronger/cleverer teams. The key to that is Grimes playing less deep, pushing him into the red zone to inject proper, clever energy where we now need it most.

We need more dynamism to complement our flare up top. Oba is the other missing link and needs a run to hone his, and our more potent weaponry in the final third.

I'd like to see us start with Oba, and Grimes further forward.

(and btw - why are you gift-wrapping the kryptonite ?)

This !

Also I remember a certain Mr Wenger complaining that we'd set up for a draw, instead of attacking them and leaving plenty of spaces for them to counter attack.

Well, no. That's not what you were saying.

You were moaning about us having no plan, how nobody could possibly be enjoying the game and generally employing the kind of histrionics used when we're 3-0 down as opposed to having a quiet half in an away game.

If you weren't such an utter drama queen perhaps you might find yourself not being targeted for derision as often as you are.

Just a thought.

How awful, passing rings around them the whole game away from home, winning 2 nil.

Granted the first half wasn't great but the comments on that Barnsley forum are hilarious.

Those cheeky Tykes, they really don't understand what happened, their team sat back and simply tried nothing much besides stopping us. So it took time and patience to wear them down. Barnsley did try a few quick counters but they'd run out of ideas long before the end.

Granted it wasn't great to watch, I wouldn't want to watch that every game but it'll happen now and then.

If you don't play your best football but still totally dominate a game and win 2 nil, it has to be a positive. We need to be doing better at home though because teams will start coming here to park the bus too. We still have to accept that Martin has to recruit a few more players, to get the squad depth and ability right. We weren't so hot going forward for a fair while, until Ntcham came on and we are still giving him cotton wool treatment. We still need to allow time but things are going the right way which we should all be happy with. We don't lose often which has to be good, surely?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

And I commented as fans saw it .Tedius boring and aimless .

Yes,it was poor me and the usual drivel followed but it had to be said. Any of the top teams in the Champ would have killed us stonecdead in that first half.

We should not wait until the second half to start playing as we can.

That we did eventually break the torpor was down to Russ and he got us that win no question. Barnsley came close to snatching a goal when Naughton got skinned by no 44.

When we came alive ,it looked ok to me all right and it begs the question as to why we don’t really go at it from the off.

We can kill off games easily by half time and then rest Monsieur and Downes ,two terrific players .

We can really reach the play off ,and as Grimes has said, target has to be Premier League .

How can any team kill the swans stone dead when on Wednesday the opposition didn’t ?
Only the top two have succeeded in beating us properly, plus Preston in our infancy.

It wasn't a vintage swans performance by any means but all their 'I was bored stiffl, we're crap and I'd rather watch us' guff is just a coping mechanism. Fact is they went to watch their team at home and their heroes barely had a kick for 90 minutes. If I went to the Liberty and watched the opposition pass rings around us for 90 minutes I'd be bored to tears, too.

I really do not like what you are coming up with of late Keith. It seems you are almost encouraging bullying me which is evident because your posts are jumped upon by P stalwarts.
I post without hate speech which you say you abhor yet allow snide filth to slip through from Winston and now Brynmill .

Are you trying to close down any critical post whatsoever. It doesnt fit well with your mantra of all opinions being welcomed as they clearly aren't .

Give me a DM and discuss this ,if you like, but you can count me out of any further discussions or comments .
