Call spoofing 09:35 - Oct 11 with 921 views | Catullus | A scam that's on the rise according to the lovely Angela Rippon on "Rip off Britian" so don't fall for it peeps! Don't trust caller ID, if you get a call claiming to be from any of your providers, phone, internet, bank, whoever, don't trust it if they tell you something is wrong, say you'll call them back on a number you trust. If it's a genuince problem you'll get it sorted. A fella on tv now lost over 10k in just a few minutes to a call spoofing scam.

Call spoofing on 09:54 - Oct 11 with 892 views | onehunglow | Morning Cat Before my mum in law moved into a Care Home she took my advice regarding anyone who called. My advice was simply to tell them to write a letter . She survived all sorts of calls . Also, anyone calling at the door simply do not engage. What this entails is every family member having a family key word. No key word,no conversation Some scammers will have brushed up on things like how the weather is or last nights telly so as to con the caller they are not from a foreign land etc. The world is now much smaller a place. Call spoofing on 10:08 - Oct 11 with 877 views | Boundy | It was quite noticeable that during the height of India's Covid pandemic the amount of calls into my home from " Albert, Jason " dropped quite considerably . So its seems there is a God after all

Call spoofing on 10:09 - Oct 11 with 876 views | Wingstandwood | Another one is bogus insurance/warranty scams! I can talk from experience on this one i.e. an elderly relative of my got ripped off...... Two direct debits taken out on successive days (£420 total) and that’s despite me alerting the bank with (10 minutes after phone call) immediate effect. I did get the money back, down to the fact I had given the bank forewarning I presume? How many more daily/succesive debits would have been taken out if I had not been alert? Why would a company that claims to be an individual’s insurance provider want bank details in the first place, after all is said and done those details would be on record anyhow. These people that prey on the vulnerable and lesser savvy are sociopath scum! BTW the people behind this scam were British and from a British call centre. Not all are from India.

Insurance is a prime target. Many old people pay insurance for things they never need

Mum in law had travel insurance and was paying for years when she was 80 plus. Her husband took it out 20 yrs before and the company simply kept taking it out. Chuck in all sorts of warranties too. Legal robbery

Call spoofing on 13:21 - Oct 11 with 799 views | Catullus | We had a call from our tv provider (allegedly) saying we had a probelm with our internet being accessed from a foreign country. Now it might have been legit because my wife works from home and her computer security uses a VPN so it could be showing up that she's in Indonesia. Still though, I don't yalk to these people, I politely told him due to so many scam callers I'm hanging up and will call you back on a number I trust. He didn't argue, I haven't phoned back mind and neither have they. I got caught once by a scammer and that was enough. I got my money back, all £249 via the cashback scheme but I have been very careful ever since. I won't deal with anybody who phones me if it involves handing money over, I always hang up and contact them, usually online via their website.

Call spoofing on 23:01 - Oct 11 with 689 views | Jack123 | Not so much call spoofing, but I saw a text message today, to login and enter details for a covid pass, the cheeky gits even sent a reminder. Easy to spot, but I do worry for the elderly and vulnerable types with scams like this going around, you would have thought it would be easy to clamp down on scam texts. Did you see how easy it is to spoof/clone a phone number. They can buy so called burner phones, use a computer to fakr a number and off they go. It's very hard to trace. As soon as they think they're sussed they just bin the phones. I suppose it's been an upside of being a househusband, I've seen all these 'Rip Off' style programs and learned about so very many scams!

Call spoofing on 13:58 - Oct 12 with 574 views | theloneranger | Some of these sophisticated scammers can now generate their own dial tone when you clear down. So don't ring a trusted number of your provider etc, but ring a friend or relative to prove you have your line back!! If they answer, then ring your provider etc.
| Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎 |
