In the semi finals of the league cup. They are going mad that they could win it.

Just puts the Swans achievement in doing so in to perspective.

Newcastle United are a Saudi Arabian football club based in north eastern England funded by the Saudi Government via a Sovereign Wealth fund.

Swansea city are a USA/ Welsh owned club based in Wales 15-21% owned by a not for profit Fan Trust. The owners are sports investors.

Not when the club won the league cup.
That was fantasy island stuff that came true.

The owners are speculators not investors , a subtle but importnat difference as well you know

Taking a step back here, the fact that we played in the Premier league for the length of time, won a major cup and sit where we are in the championship is incredible considering our history and size as a club.

I think sometimes things are taken for granted and reality of things are often misguided. As a club we have had a fantastic journey and are still experience a good level that we should all be proud of.

I do not regard them as 'speculators'. They are business people that want to build a good business using their skills and ultimately, make a profit. They have already been at the club 6 years so are in it for the long term. Speculation has 'short term-ism' as a feature. It suggests a passive involvement simply relying on market growth. They are no more speculators than you or I or any homeowner who eventually wants to trade up the house market ladder.

Their original plan was to build something and expand the stadium to 30,000 and then in time sell on a bigger club with bigger income stream taking into account the intrinsic expansion of TV rights. They themselves would have found naming rights for the expanded stadium. The commercial side of Swansea was not operating to full capacity.

They will be able to make a significant profit if they sell the club in the Premier league with the cheapest clubs going for £200m not the £100m Swansea was sold for.

Swansea fans need to try and work out what their ownership is actually for. I have not interacted with anyone who has scoobey doo to be honest. The soundbites are bland and meaningless. Perhaps the management is happy enough managing the village shop and enjoying match day VIP services and a chance to chat with Vincent Kompany on occasions.

I think the Championship is our level. it's where we as a club of our size belong. Hopefully we will stay here long term apart from the occassional sojourn into the cess pit that is the EPL.
