Southampton v Swansea City : Huge financial incentive today for Swansea City 12th Jan 2025 11:54
Luke Williams and Ivan Juric have had their pre match interviews prior to the game at St Mary’s which kicks off today at 4.30pm. It’s now not about what they are saying, it’s about what they do. 0

A Sunday League team would have shown more fight than us today.

Feel sorry for the fans who spent their hard earned and time travelling up to Southampton for that.

Very frustrating, tbh I didn’t watch it all - I just couldn’t! More of the old pass it forward, stop, then pass back then sideways then back and in 20 seconds it’s back with McLaughlin in the Swans penalty area. 🤬

Nobody wants to have a run, a shot, a cross etc etc.

There’s no shame in losing to a Premier League team, but ffs at least have a go. Obviously no one wants to lose a game, but the fans would be a lot more accepting if the team came up short after a brave effort as opposed to limply losing.

Lose the derby and he has to go.

What are the PSR implications?

If we’ve got money now but can’t spend it, surely sacking a manager makes it worse. Would it stop us buying Low or doing other transfer business?

All the performances since his first West Brom comments have had the same sort of lethargy. From the outside, it looks like he’s lost them. I think it’s coming even if it does impact the transfer window.

I’m sure Coleman speaks to senior players regularly.

I can't see how the club can continue to change manager.

Can we afford to be changing & potentially be paying compensation to another club.

I doubt any new manager would want to take Sheffield United as their first game. Maybe Sheehan for a few weeks?

Losing to an EPL team is one thing, losing against one of the worse EPL teams in history in the way in which we did is embarrassing. Not one of our players would even make their bench. Some people think we are 2 or 3 players short of making a promotion challenge … shocking performance

We are one or two head coaches short of an average team.

I find it incredible the club have not officially appointed a replacement for Paul Watson.

What is Martin Hodge doing?

Surely the club realises this squad is not strong enough and additions are needed quickly.

The players are listless and clueless .
They are badly coached and don’t feel comfortable
Clearly
This keeper says it all.
It is Williams that is clearly stamping out play .
No team I’ve ever seen passes the ball backwards as often

Sometimes, professional pride helps . We haven’t any

annoys me to see that little shite Mnning lauding it

Another player overly lionised by some of our fans but nowhere near worthy of their adulation.

They are assuming we’ll play like that for the rest of the season. We won’t.

There will be a parting of ways sooner or later and we’ll get the intensity and desire back. Those West Brom comments have potentially cost us Darling and almost certainly cost Williams his job and reputation.

If he’s still here next weekend, it will probably be more of the same.

Our first 11 isn't that bad, we need strength in depth because after the first 2/3 subs we have nothing so when somebody is missing, we struggle.

It is massively compounded by having a coach who looks so far out of his depth, a coach who doesn't make changes when needed but the same changes time and again (often around the 60 minute mark), a coach who uses players out of position.

People say we need an experienced coach, how about a capable coach? How about a coach who uses the squad to its strengths and stops fannying around in defence with stupid, suicidal passing (a la Russell Martin, somebody did warnus!) on the edge of our box. How about taking chances going forward and not always looking for the safe pass because, no such thing, how about telling our midfield to get forward more quickly?

It's a simple rule, even Man City and Liverpool obey it, if under pressure in and around the penalty area, if there's no easy pass on then "av it" and hit the ball as high and as long as possible.
Playing possession football is fine except when it costs you points. Shooting more often might help too. How many shots did we manage today?

6 shots. 1 on target.

All the focus is the league with a small squad. Social media wasn't around when we got battered for decades and fans said the good old days. Got to cut the cloth accordingly. If we get a result against Cardiff this will be forgotten. Don't get how everyone knows how run club better. Not defending manager. We all hate losing a bit like running house more bad days working fingers to the bone than good. Never quick fix in life one thing is for sure no manager can turn this squad into premier league. Reality is we are doing well cards we have. Southampton looked like a Ferrari we looked like a Dacia.

Wright has never coached managed experienced men ,with West End kids and Brition Ferry youth prior to getting the job with the Swans .Not saying her couldn't do it but a hell of a risk .

I don't think it'll be "forgotten" RM delivered the double double and we still wanted him out.

Yes you want bragging rights, but overall performance and success is far more important than two local derby matches.

Can’t disagree with what you say about the coach or the style of play. However I would struggle name 2 or 3 players from this squad that would have made Martinez promotion squad or the Jackett squad that lost on penalties to Barnsley that season.

we expect more and more from our managers who have less and less at their disposal.

the cycle of decline is constant, each manager with less to work with than their predecessor, with fans wanting to see improvements / rebuild and then keen to move them on as we slip further.

the data and graphs are clear, the personalities and motivations almost secondary.

was down there today though, a lifeless, awful, performance. They are becoming more frequent each season.

how far do we have to fall to allow a genuine, gradual rebuild? and what would we accept as indicators for slow and steady improvement?

Why give it to Joe Allen?
Is he interested in being a coach? Has he done his badges?
What experience does he have?
Just because he played for the club doesn't mean he is suited to the job

Duff said that and everyone hated him.
