Swansea City : A new investor to add to the picture ? 8th Nov 2024 12:43
People will be asking about any new investors at the Swans from today onwards. There will be investment and one of those could well be self confessed ‘Swansea City nut’ and one of the most talked about and successful businessmen in the United States. 0

🤣

I know we might even get a striker in January now.
Happy days mate.

They get Ben and Harry sorted + new striker the feel good factor will fill the stadium.

Poll: Would you go all out for Conner Roberts free in the summer?

We can get by without a new striker. Give Peart-Harris and Bianchi a few games and they will start to rip the Championship apart. We have the incredibly talented Emo to return to the field with several injured players to return to the fold by January. Work with what we have got, even keep Vipo on the bench for when we have to protect a lead in the last 15 minutes to defend corners and free kicks, just keep him this side of the halfway line.

Very interesting. There is probably a link between Coleman and Morse as well since Coleman made a lot of his money raising funds for Hoteliers.

Well reasons to be cheerful eh...

Lers see, sort out our CB's first then come January, assuming we are still doing ok and Williams keeps us going in the right direction, support him in the window.

A decent CAm and a striker and we could make real headway. Adding those 2 to the existing squad gives us some depth too.

How many times do people have to be told - give our existing strikers thr ball and they’ll score. If we buy another one fine but we desperately need a new CDM and captain first

This is encouraging news of course but unless the new ownership show improved ambition, passion, enthusiasm, presence and real focus and a determination with money to attract new players and offer improved contracts to those who warrant them to move the club forward then nothing really will change. Heaven forbid it could get worse but the signs are encouraging. Fingers crossed.

Agree Ronald, Bianchini and Pearl-Harris look as if they can compete up top giving even big Centre Halves issues that they might have trouble coping with lsupporting players benefitting, Vipotnik looks as if he is learning on the job and will take time in learning how to deal with the play at Championship level.
Think the debate about whatt is needed in the midfield will go on a while yet but it does seem the further up the pitch Grimes plays the more chance of coming away with points on the board.

Seeing would be believing. None of the candidates mentioned in the thread show the ability to convert high crosses, and although chances haven't been plentiful, there have been good opportunities missed. Ronald, in particular, is far from a clinical finisher. Peart Harris scored from three yards in the last game, but missed a sitter a couple of games ago. I think we need at least one more.

Ronald's back post header handed a goal on a plate , he has scored in games but being previously starved of meaningful ball I can understand the number of missed chance given the desperation and the pressure to score and on so many players to perform, yes we need a striker now but that may change by January plans need to be made to act when we can.

All wide players should be at the back post when crosses are played in, Dyer used to score regularly like that.

For me, heading a cross back across the six yard box isn't the same as finding the net. Needing to give that example just confirms my point that headed goals by our forwards are like hen's teeth at present. Yes, a creative midfielder would be good, but we do need another striker ASAP.

I think you should look at that goal again and look at our number 9 who people still thinks has a future - amazingly, yet again, just that one yard off the pace. P-H's "3 yarder" was something James Vardy or Haaland would have been proud of. You were obviuosly not at the stadium this week because Peart-Harris made the most exciting direct run down the middle beating 5/6 of the opposition. I have not seen the like in a Swans shirt the last 10 years (Andre Ayew, not quite, but the nearest I can think of.)

Well I have been to games home and away and seen Vipotnik and Cullen given the ball in good positions and not score, 5 games with no goals...doesn't make you sound right does it.

Grimes is playing better, Franco looks good and Allen can fill in the gaps. We need a creator between midfield and attack and a striker with the movement, skill and desire to finish the chances.

Well,Gyokeres was equally impotent and look at him now
There could be a player in there
I hope so.
If not ,ideally, both he and the Uke should be binned as they appear dead wood .

Barry Sternlicht looks a bit like Bob Bradley.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I saw the goal and Peart-Harris's movement on to the ball in a straight line was good. What was not so good was his inability when clear in the area a couple of weeks ago to control a dropping ball played from behind, turn and shoot. In fact, he missed a clear chance. He has done the same a couple of times with shots from the edge of the box that haven't had the accuracy and power to trouble the keeper. A striker has to be versatile - a goal "on a plate" (to quote another poster), even on the end of a good run, doesn't show that he is the next Piroe. Indeed, Myles probably wouldn't claim to be a big goal scorer. His record over three loan spells is 8 goals from 63 appearances, and he has yet to score for Brentford.

Get the ball up the pitch quickly with good passing be it to feet or into space with good movement getting players forward to support our forwards we will create more scoring chances we did that in the last number of games. We have seen that in games earlier in the season but slowing the game down to such an extent negates the creation of chances letting defences get organisd. Quick throw outs from goalie, quick throws iins into space makes the opposition have to work harder to get organise and ultimately leads to mistakes that strikers can profit from, all for controlling games but when possible all for creating chaos in the opposition's ranks which gives strikers more room and chances to score. Why do keep conceding ground constantly when we already in areas of the pitch we can do damage in.
Against Watford it was brillant to see a throw in down the line to relieve pressure, quick throw ins into the box varying what we do instead of making it easy to defend against us making every one look sĺow and ponderous in defence but more so in attack things aren't quite right yet in attack but at least give them a better number of chances I'm sure the conversion rate will increase.

So that's how it works is it? One split second mistake and you've written him off-Swans supporter classic understanding of the game summed up in an instant.*
*mistake is the wrong word, it was a brain freeze as he weighed up his options it happens all the time with players on the touchline, looks a hundreds time worse in the area. If you don't think we've got a gem fair enough crack on.

The argument isn't about whether or not Peart-Harris will develop into a very good mid-fielder; he has a good chance of doing that. It is about whether Peart-Harris is the answer to our goal-scoring problem. He might get the occasional goal, but 8 goals in 66 appearances for Brentford and the 3 loan EFL clubs suggests he won't score enough to be the striker we need. Nanty is clutching at straws, just as some did with Vipotnik before he had even turned out for the Swans.
