Swansea City v Stoke City : Matchday Thread 22/23 11:23 - Feb 19 with 18417 viewsNotLoyal

Two managers desperate for something, desperate for wins to ensure they keep their teams in a safer place other than an unsafe place. It could be a better place but probably not because an ‘unbetter’ place isn’t a word. Actually it is.

Swansea City and the tale of mid table woe 20th Feb 2023 11:19
Swansea City go in to tomorrow nights game against Stoke City with a gap to fill and that’s the ever increasing one between them and the Championship play offs. The responses from Russell Martin after yet another last gasp defeat at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday are beginning to annoy some of the most ardent of Swansea fans, and it’s all wearing a bit thin. 0

Cooper must start and Whittaker is in the frame for Swansea City 21st Feb 2023 11:16
Swansea City will be going all out for two wins over the next two home fixtures, and head coach Russell Martin knows only too well his team need to show the intensity he often talks about this evening against Stoke City ( Kick off 7.45pm ) Stoke are scrapping to keep away from the bottom three in a fixture that has always been a huge test for the Swans. 0

Where does Russell Martin go now ? Another night of the same old ! 21st Feb 2023 21:59
Another tale of complete woe for the magnificent turn out yet again at the Swansea.Com stadium tonight. Russell Martin brought in the desired changes but nine seemed to impact the game in the Wayne wanted, and the game was lost and to be honest it wasn’t even close. 0

When they took over we were at our most valuable and possibly most successful. They have now taken away that value completely. However you want to look at it they have taken that value out of the club. If we were sold today the differential in value would be huge.
No other owners have taken away so much in value.
If you don't maintain your assets they lose value and they've failed to do that since they took over.
If people don't think they've taken anything away from the club then that's up to them but quite simply I do

NO other owners ( apart from the sell outs) ever had the club in such a position as it was when the current owners bought it

SIlver SHield bought a crock of sh1t, Petty paid a pound for a bigger crock....the sellouts then bought a crock and developed it...
SO I ask how should they then have maintained their assets?

They made mistakes by allowing HJ so much free reign...we made some dodgy managerial appointments ......Relegation form the PL cost us hugely I quess your answer would be for the to throw tens of millions at maintaining that status ...which perhaps HJ was telling them wasnt necessary that we would be ok and not get relegated or even more monies in getting repromoted with no gaurantee on any return?

The average joe on a keyboard hasn't got a clue of the running costs of a football team. I am fed up of hearing the same arguments with Welsh rugby at the moment.

Even when you know, you never know?

Too true...professional sport has a huge cost

forgetting Rugby look at football back in Tosh's day what was his back room staff? Him a couple of assistants and a physio and a first team squad of maybe 18 at most

These days we have a "Pile" of coaches on the bench alongside the Manager plus the medical staff...and then there is the row of analysts up in the stand.....then come the acadamy staff plus the chefs etc at the training facility

There is a difference in getting relegated from the PL and having to sell.players to reduce the wage bill.

Than taking money out of the club surely you can see that.

The parachute money has stopped we were playing behind closed doors due to covid.

Revenue is significantly lower it's not that difficult to understand.

If you have the vaguest understanding of tax law and audit then yes, yes you do know. It's actually quite simple.

Then you must show the evidence to those who have no understanding of the tax law and audit, get your friend to help you while your at it you will then be able to shut up once and for all those who think the owners are on the take, you can then prove yourself to be intelligent or just very naive and simply just another one of these guys who believe everything is honestly done by the book.

DO you really believe they are siphoning off monies?

IT would be very hard to "hide" this in the accounts posted at Companies House, Im sure if there was anything LondonLisa would have found it!

In all businesses rules are pushed but auditing accounts will not breach the laws.

ITs simple really our costs outweigh the income we recieve form ticket sales and TV revenue plus kit sales and sponsorship etc....so the surplus form player sales goes back into the pot to help with running costs and the funding of transfers ....shame is that surplus isnt always enough to fund the sort of transfers we as fans would like to see.

But hey ho lets just pretend the owners are dipping their hands in the till.....its not a corner shop with a till full of notes....

I am under no illusions about my ability to "shut up once and for all those who think the owners are on the take". If people still believe in Gods despite all the evidence to the contrary then football club finances would be an impossible nut to crack.

Some people are just beyond all help.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I do recall you questioning the financial state of the club, but it’s evident to all as you now see there can be little or no room for manoeuvre to cook the books.

Questioning it in what sense?

I've been pretty steadfast in arguing against the idea that monies have somehow been taken out of the club, certainly in the manner and on the scale that many people claim (we were paying interest on Silverstein's loans, but that may have stopped). It simply can't happen secretly without breaking all sorts of laws.

Partly that's based on my own knowledge of how it works, and partly as mentioned because of people I know who have the professional skill and the personal interest to spot stuff like that in accounts.

Besides, this isn't a new phenomena. People have always cast doubts on football club finances, right back to the Doug Sharpe days when I first started watching. Christ knows how Dougie kept the place going on crowds of less than 4,000, but there were always regular chants of "Where's the money gone?"

I still don’t understand how people can still be banging on about this nonsense. The accounts are released every single season.

Not knowing how to read them is not an excuse, ignorance is not a free pass for idiocy.

You don’t even need the accounts to make an educated guess on the state of the finances. It’s amazing how people see money coming in for players and thinking it’s all profit.

None of it is, it’s needed for you to have a club to moan about.

No excuse for the rudeness to everyone in your post either.
If you cannot post politely, perhaps you shouldn't post at all ?
Suggesting people are ignorant and that they are idiots ( by use of the word idiocy )
No need of that kind of talk.
Keith only posted recently about posters using such language to describe people at the club.

My post wasn’t to everyone.

My post was to those thick enough to be accusing people of crimes with zero evidence, zero sense and absolutely no idea about football or finances.

If that resonates with you then that’s not my fault.

I stand by it.

Other forms of ‘enticement’ most certainly still exist, brown paper bags maybe not but I can assure anyone reading this that inducements are still there, and still happening, be that in other forms.
