Cooper must start and Whittaker is in the frame for Swansea City
Tuesday, 21st Feb 2023 11:16 by Swansea Independent

Swansea City will be going all out for two wins over the next two home fixtures, and head coach Russell Martin knows only too well his team need to show the intensity he often talks about this evening against Stoke City ( Kick off 7.45pm ) Stoke are scrapping to keep away from the bottom three in a fixture that has always been a huge test for the Swans.

Ex Swansea players Sam Clucas and Bersant Celina are not one hundred percent fit. Clucas has had an extended period out with a back injury and has only just come into first team reckoning. Celina has tonsillitis and is a real doubt. Some comfort maybe for those who have seen the likes of returning players do damage in games when they line up as the opposition.

There will be changes tonight, the usual collapse and loss away to Blackburn really was the final straw for some Swans fans on Saturday, with some now stating they have had enough of the same old scenarios game after game. And you can’t really blame them. The attendance will be down on the usual home gate, similar to last week if not less. That’s what happens when finances take precedence over football.

Numerous Swans fans want Morgan Whittaker to be given a start, and surely that’s no longer a bone of contention for Russell Martin. The forward line needs freshening up and Joel Piroe does look tired. Morgan has an eye for goal and would present many different problems for the Stoke defence this evening. We expect Ollie Cooper to start as well. Olivier Ntcham looks ready to influence the game and if these changes include all three we surely will see just what this Swans side can deliver ?

We will report later this afternoon on the latest player situation and the fall out from this mornings pre match press conference.
