Football aside, one of the biggest stories of the day concerns our esteemed ex chancellor and current Chairman of the Conservative Party and the requirement for him to pay around £5m in back tax and a penalty. His penalty was allegedly set at the highest point of the “careless” range of 30% and allegedly amounts to £1.1m. Some news streams are giving this story prominent cveragevwhile others aren’t. The question is should he be allowed to remain in government or should he resign/be sacked?

1987: Lester Piggott jailed for three years
Former champion jockey, Lester Piggott, has been sentenced to three years imprsionment after being found guilty of an alleged tax fraud of over £3m.

Whats the difference ? 🤷‍♂️

What got me with that was initially he was fined and had to pay quite a lot of money. But he paid the fine from an account that wasn’t known to anyone, even the revenue 😂

Perfect for Labour. Yet another nail in the 'weak PM''s coffin

I didn’t realise Zahawi was involved in a bit of a fuss about claiming expenses to hear a stable and a yard managers mobile phone. It doesn’t look good.

I see an ex Labour MP was in court yesterday for claiming £30,000 in parliamentary expenses to fund his cocaine habit.

He's also denying it and is on the second day of a trial. So it is better not to discuss it

This should be non political as both Labour and conservatives have MPs who are ,were and will be shifty.

Totally agree. We should be scrutinising the conduct of politicians of all parties and where there are lapses people should be held to account regardless of their party.

I also have difficulty in believing Zahawi’s account.

This lot aren’t interested unless it’s Drakeford or a woman with an opinion.

Maybe no one is defending Zahawi because what he's done is indefensible, unlike your lot, that defend the wonderful Mr Drakeford no matter how badly he runs Wales.

Id say his son being imprisoned for 'sustained' rape of a girl he thought was 15 is pretty sleazy

I've never known a Parliamentary Cabinet to have so many corrupt law breaking vermin in its ranks and yet they're still in power and making "laws" against its Countries people, its incredible, absolutely shocking.

Whataboutery if the highest order and a poor post. The actions of his grown up son have nothing to do with Mark Drakeford.

Drakeford junior has been tried and found guilty of a terrible offence, he deserves everything he gets.

I have read far worse non factual about the royal family, Boris /conservative MPs & police officers on this site in recent weeks.

Drakeford is the father of a convicted rapist & that’s a fact.

In fairness Penc, it’s impossible to go after Boris’ children as nobody has any idea where or how many they are.

Let’s be frank,folks.
Those of us Labour activists see any shortcomings or foul ups as material to use to further denigrate . No Labour activist on here has ever admitted criminal or even anti social behaviour .
They also utterly ignore any positive actions by conservatives
We are choked by class and it’s pretty evident on here
