You have to pay for class and that's what Mitrovic is,has all the attributes to be a top striker, played 13 times for Serbia so he's far from a faint heart.
Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 11:20 - Jun 14 with 5288 views | magicdaps10 | We paid 13M for a untried player in the premier league before. Would be a massive statement from the board if we got him on board.

Cant see us paying that sort of money for a striker. Gomis will be the main man with a loan as backup.

I would think we would be a bit top heavy in the striking department if we went for this one. There would not be enough game time to keep all players happy and poor reserve football meaning they could not be kept up to match fitness whilst on the sidelines.

Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 13:04 - Jun 14 with 4984 views | magicdaps10 | We currently only have Gomis as a recognized striker, how are we top heavy? Ayew is primarily a winger, Emnes also a wide man. We need atleast another striker so with our defence sorted and midfield looking good then surely goals win game so a striker is a must.

Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 13:28 - Jun 14 with 4905 views | Chief | this guy is the real deal and would be a huge statement of intent to get him, but I fear we will be trumped by one of europes big guns. AC Milan meant to be sniffing about. I'd love it, but cant see it considering the outlay already expended on Ayew.

I don't consider Marvin to be a winger and I thought Ayewe plays through the centre as well. He looked like a central striker to me on You Tube but I am open to correction. If the intention is to play him wide then I am with you and we need an extra striker. Whether that is a 13m pound one is another matter as we still have the problem of game time for them.

Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 13:54 - Jun 14 with 4813 views | nyc_swans | the club never re-invested the bony transfer fee into the squad, right? so, why not use half of it or so while taking the chance to perhaps develop another player of bony's quality? i don't see this kid starting for any team in the top half of the league.

How does having two strikers at club make it top heavy? We need at least two decent strikers competing and cover each other for injury The loan market is a cheap poor option has its proved the last few seasons
Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 14:20 - Jun 14 with 4733 views | tomdickharry | It would be crazy to start next season with only Gomis as our main striker with all that is at stake.
Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 14:38 - Jun 14 with 4661 views | AnotherJohn | I seem to remember a time not so long ago when most of the top teams had two pairs of top strikers, which they would often alternate. It is true that the Swans and several rival teams now opt for a one-up formation, but given that we are a top-ten PL team and hope to stay there, two specialist strikers does not seem excessive. There will be many games when the form of one will fall off and the second will come on. There may even be games where we change to a twin striker formation (especially where we are talking big man, smaller man). A wide player like Ayew who can also function as an auxiliary striker provides belt and braces in the case of injuries and suspensions. So I am in the camp that says we do need to sign a second striker.

Agree I think Swans will land him. We've tracked him for a long time. Quality player

surely it's about rotation, if a player hasn't got a good backup/competition he can get complacent and also team is weakened if he is injured for a long period

Gomis and whoever else is in our squad has to earn their place. If they have a problem with that, then they are not what we need at the club
Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 21:00 - Jun 14 with 3756 views | Glyn1 | It's a big gamble. Let's everyone remember Cardiff paying £8m for Andreas Cornelius who was then injured for most of their season.

Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 21:19 - Jun 14 with 3686 views | nyc_swans | It's a gamble, but the club seems flush with money and getting another potentially valuable striker could go a long way towards securing PL status for several more years. Who's to say they couldn't expand the stadium and also spunk out 20-25M in the transfer market?

See my other post. I may have misunderstood where our new signing plays. I think having three is top heavy with no European football. The loan market is an option for back up if it is deemed we only have Gomis as an out and out striker. Also £13m is far to high a price to pay for back up IMHO.

Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 23:22 - Jun 14 with 3359 views | Magic_Michu | Why does he have to be back up? He could be an improvement on Gomis... If we want to push on we must always be looking to improve every area of our team.

Swans Battle Newcastle And Southampton For Mitrovic on 00:06 - Jun 15 with 3302 views | Taliesin | How old is Gomis? 30? He's probably only got 1 maybe 2 years left at the top. Somebody of the age / quality of Mitrovic would seem to be he ideal option. Should provide better back up than the loans of recent years and will learn the way we play ready to be no 1 within two years. Most sensible option I would have thought. Rather than be in the market for a ready made striker in a couple of years when we could be looking at £20 mill.
