Ayew is primarily a winger, Emnes also a wide man. We need atleast another striker so with our defence sorted and midfield looking good then surely goals win game so a striker is a must. | |

I don't consider Marvin to be a winger and I thought Ayewe plays through the centre as well. He looked like a central striker to me on You Tube but I am open to correction. If the intention is to play him wide then I am with you and we need an extra striker. Whether that is a 13m pound one is another matter as we still have the problem of game time for them. | |

I seem to remember a time not so long ago when most of the top teams had two pairs of top strikers, which they would often alternate. It is true that the Swans and several rival teams now opt for a one-up formation, but given that we are a top-ten PL team and hope to stay there, two specialist strikers does not seem excessive. There will be many games when the form of one will fall off and the second will come on. There may even be games where we change to a twin striker formation (especially where we are talking big man, smaller man). A wide player like Ayew who can also function as an auxiliary striker provides belt and braces in the case of injuries and suspensions. See my other post. I may have misunderstood where our new signing plays. I think having three is top heavy with no European football. The loan market is an option for back up if it is deemed we only have Gomis as an out and out striker. Also £13m is far to high a price to pay for back up IMHO. | |

How old is Gomis? 30? He's probably only got 1 maybe 2 years left at the top. Somebody of the age / quality of Mitrovic would seem to be he ideal option. Should provide better back up than the loans of recent years and will learn the way we play ready to be no 1 within two years.
