Swansea City go into this evenings game against Sheffield United (7:45pm) at Bramall Lane in eleventh place in the Championship, that’s mid table. The points dropped from Sunday now having a greater impact on the clubs season right now, and indeed more than we expected prior to the Bristol City draw.

Now though we have a situation where a frustrated head coach, Luke Williams has to consider tonight’s game as opposed to Saturday’s 3pm kick off against Stoke City at the Swansea.com. What does he do ? Despite the facts that some may disagree with, we know Luke Williams isn’t happy. He is not happy with the contract situations at the club, and it seems neither is he happy with his current relationship with the Swans hierarchy. We stand by that, and our Andrew Coleman interview from last weekend, which is easily accessed on this website presented us with so many questions, we found it extremely alarming.
Back on tonight’s game.
Is this a game the Swans can win ? Yes, of course, we saw the team at its best against Norwich City and Coventry. And we have to say those games could have easily been lost. Just like Sunday. That’s three games where we saw a team that was excellent at times, then lost interest and completely lost its way. Despite earning seven points from nine. Reflections on Lawrence Vigouroux and his goalkeeping are one thing, the fact he has had to save the Swans time and time again means we have a team who simply cannot, or don’t possess the confidence to win games properly.
And that’s down to a very slim squad.
Most Swans followers will say that a loss tonight as opposed to a win against Stoke City is fine. For us, that’s more mid table mediocrity. That’s an acceptance that the likes of Chairman, Andrew Coleman, and his ‘project plan manager’ Ken Gude are more interested in forwarding a bizarre idea to get Swansea into Europe via a Welsh League Cup competition. Is that forfeiting any hope of the Swans making the Premier League ? Because if that was a real thing, they wouldn’t even entertain trying to put the club in a more attractive state for an investor or sale by this European ‘plan’. It’s down to money. Pure and simple.

We cannot approach any game in the Championship from here on in without this European drama accompanying our thoughts. It’s sidetracked the club and fans, and every fixture we intend to fulfil. Clubs and their ownerships will go to extreme lengths to keep dissent quiet, but it doesn’t work now as much as it didn’t stop the fans back in 2002. As much as many Swans fans are preparing for a walloping tonight, the team Luke Williams selects we have to have faith in. Because we are Swansea for life. Not for an incredibly stupid attempt to put the whole structure of the club at risk to make the club more viable for a sale and make more money on a gamble. Because that is what this regime is doing, gambling with the clubs immediate future.
That is exactly what they are doing. One hundred percent.
