General conversation is a great tool during months like January, especially with regards to the transfer window. We are aware of course about Romaine Mundle, a bid was rejected by Standard Liege last Thursday evening believed to be around five hundred thousand pounds, but what else do the Swans have up their sleeves ?
First off, and this is as ‘far as we know’ (and numerous others that know a bit as well) Oli McBurnie isn’t on any list of potential targets for a permanent transfer this January or even in the summer. The thing with Oli is he does score goals, not many will have him down as Sheffield United’s top goalscorer so far this season, but he is. And manager, Chris Wilder wants to retain him at Bramall Lane. He is out of contract in the summer, so clubs can talk to him now, but there’s much to contend with, including a rumoured twenty five thousand plus pounds a week. His whole situation seems outside of the financial constraints of the Swans. With Ben Brereton Diaz a new arrival at the club we believe Wilder will see both players capable of helping him to get the Blades out of a perilous situation in the Premier League.
We think Oli (above) knows this is his prime move in the summer if it comes to that, and at twenty seven he will want to chance his arm at staying in the Premier League. There’s much bigger money to be earned out there than the Swans are prepared to offer.
Romaine Mundle (above) as we reported two days ago hasn’t been the subject of a new bid. We are told the Swans are cooling off for now, and have left the offer on the table. A bit like ‘A Place In The Sun.’ We do expect there to be more talks though. No matter what he doesn’t seem like an immediate answer to the issues this Swansea squad faces. Signing him to save face after the comments of Chairman, Andrew Coleman this month is a no go for us. His game time has been so limited this season that the original offer should be as far as we go as a club. No time,to try and stare the other club out on this occasion.

All we have is some ‘news’ on another well researched player by the Swans, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Nothing progressed beyond basic contact, this comes from a source close to the player. Make of that what you will, but we trust the information from this person who is close to the Avid Group. (players representatives) In any event he signed on loan for Derby County yesterday and in the summer will sign a permanent deal. We have been told that Blackett-Taylor was determined to move ( we reported him saying his good byes last week ) but only really wanted to go to Derby. The Swans may well have lost out on him or he didn’t fancy the foreign lands of west Wales, but to be honest Derby is closer to home for the twenty six year old. For us, out of the rumoured players this January he seemed a brighter prospect than many others. Let’s be honest here, if he Swans had gone for the player properly then surely he would fancy the Championship compared to League One where he already is ?

We’ve spoken about Will Evans at Newport County, quite simply he is fully focussed on the FA Cup tie against Manchester United. Does he look good enough for the Championship ? Probably not. Any other links or rumours we have given up on bar Jodi Jones at Notts County. That’s still in the pot, we’ve heard it could well happen but Notts County are sensing blood money we believe, his contract is not up until 2025.

The thing is the club have kept all comers at bay this month, from the considered ‘regime’ media to anyone else who tries a trick or two. We’ve exhausted our outlets and even those who call us, it’s now down to Andrew Coleman who is leading this search which apparently has ‘gone on for months’ The Championship transfer window is a desert this month, apologies but we’ve done our best, for now of course, we can be relentless if required, that’s in the pipeline next week. Then there’s a load of players at the club who need their futures sorting. We still expect there to be three coming in and one going out, we will include Yannick Bolasie in both, but seriously it all comes to a head next Wednesday. Unfortunately this is the outcome when you shop for hopefuls in the lower tier, we can only wish the club the best, we are still certain they will deliver.
