Swansea City return to action this Saturday at Blackburn Rovers with a string of fixtures thereafter which will most certainly test Luke Williams ability to coach and manage his squad. Eom is out of these next six fixtures as he starts his rehabilitation after an MCL injury playing for South Korea against Jordan in a World Cup Qualifier last week.
Ben Cabango took a few blows on Monday night in Wales crucial fixture against Montenegro, however nothing is seen as serious, and the good he did for his future international prospects cannot be argued with. We will wait now for updates from the club on Eom, but a huge thank you for the personal updates to the website from South Korean journalists. I’m sure you will agree we managed to report some very compelling and succinct news.
The Swans are in eleventh in the Championship going into the game away at Blackburn. Since football was deemed safe to play after the Covid ‘situation’ the sides have met on seven occasions. Both have won three games, the other drawn. The Swans won the last meeting at Ewood Park in October last year (1-0) with a Liam Cullen winner in the first half. The very first meeting was during wartime in Swansea at the Vetch, in the FA Cup first round. That was on January 9th of that year. An article recovered by Swans100 is below.
Williams first thoughts will be around the inclusion of Florian Bianchini this coming Saturday, an obvious and straight forward inclusion. However, he has favoured Azeem Abdulai, shoehorning him into a wing position which hasn’t proven a success. Unfortunately when that option is preferred the Swans seem to slow down in their attacking play - with Azeem opting to put his foot on the brake and pass the ball backwards when a run at his opponent is possible.
The Swans have to resist this.
As usual the ticket take up by the Jack Army is impressive, but more are available on the club website. The current league table reflects the Swans and Blackburn within touching distance of each other, and a win away would do the confidence of the team a world of good.
And we only have to see these next six fixtures to grasp just how difficult they are going to be.
More on this game and some very interesting internal news this week.
