Swansea City chairman makes brave announcement for the new season

New Swansea City Chairman Andrew Coleman has made some brave promises in his latest comments on Michael Duff joining the Swans from Barnsley.

Talking about Duff’s arrival Coleman was very positive, but mixed in with his comments was a particularly brave statement. "Michael has a proven track record of galvanising a group of players into a collective unit, and he has consistently outperformed expectations at his previous clubs," said Swansea chairman Andy Coleman. Every conversation I had with him only reinforced the view that he is exactly the type of leader we need here at Swansea City. He is a proven winner, both as a player and as a manager, and I'm confident he will bring that mentality here”

We reported a few weeks ago of the clubs main area for appointing a new manager, and that he would be UK based despite some strange reports of foreign sounding names in line for the job.

That report is here –>⚽️ Swans UK based appointment

Duff’s appointment is a solid choice and one which should excite Swansea fans as all he has known since becoming a coach is an upward curve and a very impressive win record. Coleman continued. "I believe in his ability and his belief in the Swansea way, while he also possesses the capability to adapt within games to drive results. This is a results-driven business. Our position in the table matters to all of us and we are focused on supporting Michael with everything he needs to succeed."

That’s a particularly brave statement from Coleman and one which many Swans fans will hold him to this summer. The club will need to recruit in the region of six players to be competitive next season, and that’s as it stands now without further transfers out.

We shall see how that statement pans out over time.
