Joel Piroe report from last December and the Leicester link

On Swansea Independent we don’t report anything that isn’t well sourced and firmed up through our contacts. In December we had an interesting day with a few people with regards to other business links and learned of the Leicester City way of processing their clubs targets for the future.

The link to that Joel Piroe Leicester report is here.

It seems now with the summer transfer scramble gathering momentum other outlets are picking up on the Joel Piroe phenomenon this season. Voetbal are the latest to link Piroe to Leicester, a bit late in the day but we will give them some credit. At the time of our report ( December ) Piroe was asked if he knew about those links with the foxes ( as if he is privy to Leicester city’s inner workings ) and of course he said ‘No’ Because he wouldn’t have any knowledge whatsoever.

Daft question.

The ever increasing awareness by football agents to manufacture at times these type of stories is well known. To encourage news outlets to put their player in the shop window certain leaks are always made, for anyone who finds this a bit cloudy it’s a bit like telling someone you have a car for sale but it’s going so cheap you would rather not let anyone know because of the overwhelming interest. Job done. Trust me people will find out. Leaks of information will always be as a result of the source carefully thinking through the best way to make them public.

Especially if the Mrs is earning a few bob abroad.

It seems again that Voetbal have got a hold of information, as they do, as we do, as good websites do and run with it. There is most certainly credibility to it, but the fee would have to exceed fifteen million for sure. And that’s a minimum starting point. Piroe as a forward and scoring goals in the championship is priceless to other clubs. It’s definitely the start of the rumour mill, some people hate it, some just don’t get it, and some are just plain mad at themselves for not understanding it at all.

That’s human nature, and that’s why we as much as anyone are entitled to a right of reply. We all hope Joel Piroe stays at Swansea and none of us like hearing news we don’t want to hear. But you will hear much more before September 1st when the window closes. It’s a part of the process, that is for those of us who research and check our sources properly and don’t rely on other outlets all the time to source their news for them.
