Steve Cooper is Kean on Bryan
As it stands, despite all the speculation ( don’t confuse that with opinion ) Steve Cooper is planning his armoury for the new season at the Liberty. His number one thought on returning to Swansea was strengthening his defence, which suits his footballing style, and Kean Bryan is on that list.
We can disclose that Bryan has been offered a new Sheffield United contract which has not signed, but then again he hasn’t rejected it either. With March Guehi looking more likely to play for Chelsea than Swansea next season Cooper will want strength in depth at the back. Kieron Freeman who signed a short term contract in January didn’t feature for the swans in the league last season, and has left the club, so that’s two positions Cooper will want to fill, or at least one with the addition of a defender like Bryan.
Joel Piroe is signed as is Kyle Joseph, so with Jamal Lowe we really do see that as a first choice three at times next season. Backed up by Morgan Whittaker who joined form Derby County, and the natural goal scorer Liam Cullen. It isn’t an embarrassment of riches but yet again it isn’t a shortfall. Swans fans will be delighted if one of the previously linked strikers like Henry at Leuven could be added to the attacking options, but it is unlikely as it stands. Never say never though, we are still to see players going out to date, and that is bound to happen. Surely ?
So, as it stands Kean Bryan is a free agent, plus he has his Sheffield United option still, the degree of the contract is believed to be in the region of 10k a week, that’s a big salary for a championship defender in the current climate. That could well be the deciding factor in any successful transfer bid, just like it was when Steve Cooper didn’t leave Swansea.
Which transfers do you want to see at Swansea this season ?
