The real Swansea City links that have a chance of happening - and not !

Come the end of the month most swans fans will be pretty annoyed with the amount of rumours that are continually surfacing about players coming to the club. We all feel the same, but we have to remember most of these rumours do have some foundation. It could be that it’s just an inquiry, even permission to talk to the player, or just a question on the players current situation. The very keen agent looking for his slice of the pie is also very much involved. These are our thoughts on where the swans stand today.

A lot of clubs are more than happy to have other teams interested in their players. Especially if they are not fitting in off the pitch or failing to implement the clubs style of play when they are picked. These two scenarios do seem to crop up a lot. We have all seen quality players left out at every club which leaves the fans scratching their heads. It’s a lot more than the ninety minutes though.

We have said this many times, clubs will do their due diligence on every player they sign, especially during these times when clubs are searching for all the credentials in a player they need. Another area of concern for clubs hunting new players is his attitude in training, is he developing or just making do with where he is ? Disciplinary on the pitch yes, but as we have already said off the pitch is crucial. A good example will be the amount of fines or warnings the player has had, and what they were for.

It’s never as easy as ok, we will have him, he’s a decent player.

Perybernes playing for Lorient

Most recently Frenchman Mathieu Peybernes has been mentioned as of interest, but he’s not really on the swans radar, you could put him in to the "inquiry” bracket, but for us here our research says it’s a no. Mathieu Peybernes has already said recently, " I’m interested to play another season at Real Zaragoza than anywhere else” We have actually seen him interviewed on La Liga, he knows where he wants to be. Peybernes was on loan to Zaragoza last season, so he is merely a 2/10. He has also played for Lugo, and at the wrong side of 30 he just isn’t a Swansea fit.

Kyle Scott surfaced recently, and although we shouldn’t dismiss him outright he is a a far longer shot than some people think. In the swans favour is he has been released by his club, Newcastle United, so he is contactable easily via his agent at CAA Base Ltd. Scott is now 23 and he needs to be settled and know exactly what the next club he signs for wants from him. He was a much talked about player spending ten years going through the Chelsea development ranks, then signing for Newcastle. However, he has slipped out of many people’s minds since he found himself grounded in the U23’s on Tyneside. This latest release will give him more flexibility, and if the swans did enter into more intense negotiations he would be seen as a replacement for Matt Grimes. Tough one to wish for. However he could feature in a quiz question in years to come. Scott has represented England at under-16 level, Republic of Ireland at under-17 level, and United States at both under-18 and under-20 levels. He is also eligible for Italy. We have him as a 5/10 possibility.

A more interesting prospect is 19 year old Kyle Joseph ( All we want is a team of Kyle’s) he only found himself in the first team at Wigan last season, and he is yet to accumulate 20 games. He has played for Scotland U18 and U19 sides, and at just over six foot he does command a presence in the opposition penalty area. He has scored 5 goals in 14 for the latics. However, it’s hard to see him as a replacement for Ayew, as has been oddly reported - and the swans already have young players in Cullen and Whittaker. When all that is considered we do know personally he has had contact with the swans - and it seems some would like to think he is close to signing. But as a replacement for Ayew ? He does get a 7/10 though.

Thomas Henry has found his goal scoring boots this season

The most excited swans fans should get is the repetitive but pleasing rumours on Frenchman Thomas Henry, but again there should be some caution. It is without a doubt the swans have made some contact with his club OH Leuven, however how much contact is debatable. His agent at sports agency ‘Relatives’ is keeping his cards very close to his chest. We do know Leicester have an interest but they will know that even though he has scored 41 goals at Leuven, up until now he has rarely scored in all his career professional games. OH Leuven Play at the King Power Den Dreef Stadion, so there’s a clue there. Until signing for OH Leuven, in well over a hundred games he was a one in five goal scorer. It’s only in the 70 plus games he has played for OH Leuven that he has found his goal scoring boots. And at 26 that’s a risk if big money is being talked about. He has scored 21 goals this season, 15 the season before, and 5 during the season he first signed for OH. For us it’s a massive gamble. it’s 6/10 because his agent at ‘Relatives’ has a good relationship with the sports agency Simbioze Football, the agent for Mathieu Peybernes, also French, and mentioned above.

There could be more to follow.

The last and latest rumour is around which club will Neco Williams go to on loan next season. The Liverpool defender seems highly likely to be plying his trade in the Championship for sure. Most see this as a straight fight for Williams between Swansea City and Cardiff. Our sources say nothing will happen for at least two weeks, and that the swans are interested but not as much as current reports will tell you. It’s 5/10 for Neco, we are not sure if Liverpool would want him developing at Cardiff either. They didn’t do much for Harry Wilson last season and Rhian Brewster, a successful loan from Liverpool - after he left the swans earned the Anfield club £25,000,000.

As you know there will be far more speculation as time goes on, and don’t forget either, unless it’s a priority Swansea City are never keen to sign players up on a contract until the very last minute. This summer especially we would be very surprised if they move as quick as people think. It just means they pay extra wages to a player to spend June without being at the club.

Who would you like at the swans next season ?
