BJB Day 27

Leon Britton Undertakes The Weekly Task

Home > Story Index >Day 27 In The Big Jack Brother House

18.06.03 - 4.32am - Leon Britton is talking in his sleep. He is mumbling about the task and how he wants his mummy to help him. The remaining housemates have been woken up by his sleep talking and cannot help but laugh when he starts singing "When I was just a little boy"
18.06.03 - 7.44am - Surprisingly, John Williams has been up since he was woken by Leon's sleep talking, He has been on the bike cycling round the garden. He wonders if he were to kneel on the bike that he could be mistaken for Leon. It takes Myra to point out that height is not the only subtle difference between the two of them.
18.06.03 - 9.02am - Leon Britton is woken up to warm up for the task which will take place in just two hours. He is given a pre-cycle breakfast of pasta (what else?) and limbers up with some stretching exercises (which he secretly hopes will make him taller as well)
18.06.03 - 10.43am - It's a disaster. John Williams had adjusted the saddle earlier on and now it is jammed. Leon cannot even reach the pedals let alone ride the bike. James Thomas comes to the diary room to ask if they can get a new bike to which BJB answers in the negative. They are left with no choice but to find some blocks to place on the pedals. Sadly, blocks are surprisingly lacking in the BJB house so they have to improvise with a couple of chickens instead.
18.06.03 - 11.03am - The task is underway. It starts well with the object being that Leon can last five minutes. Luckily, they have discovered that if Leon kicks a chicken then he will naturally pedal the bike for him - all he has to do is concentrate on the steering. Four minutes into the task and it looks as if he will pass as he cycles round the garden. However, with just 30 seconds to go a problem strikes as John Williams falls asleep and collapses in front of the bike. Leon has no choice and hits him, falling off, It looks as if they have failed.
18.06.03 - 12.43pm - Big Jack Brother announces that although they failed to cycle the bike for the full five minutes, they were impressed with the improvisation used and announce that the task has been passed. Leon Britton is treated as a hero and the two chickens are given pride of place on the sofas as a mark of celebration.
18.06.03 - 4.13pm - Three hours ago the housemates opened six bottles of wine to celebrate passing the task. Sadly, one of the chickens got hold of some wine and is now in the kitchen tormenting an egg. Leon has not been allowed alcohol but has managed to get his hand on some wine gums and is on his back in the bathroom.
18.06.03 - 5.58pm - Big Jack Brother announces that tomorrow there will be a special treat for the housemates and that all must be up and by the sofas by eleven o'clock to receive their treat.
18.06.03 - 8.12pm - The wine is still flowing in the house. Nick Rees has now drunk four bottles on his own and is busy telling Myra that she really is the most beautiful thing that he has ever seen. Most of the housemates think that they should possibly stop drinking now, they realise that they should definitely stop when they hear Peter Owen tell Steve Watkin that he truly was a naturally talented footballer.
18.06.03 - 10.02pm - It's an early night in the house due to the drinking. Two housemates have had to sober up as they realise that Leon has had two more wine gums - and different colour ones at that. Leigh gets a bowl from the kitchen to put by his bed whilst Jason Smith puts him in the recovery position (he knows as he spends two hours a day in that position himself)
