Luke confirms there have been talks with Harry Darling

As this website has maintained and reported over the last few months, Harry Darling has been spoken to recently regards a new contract. Despite his claims there have been no talks, Head Coach, Luke Williams has straightened that out. There have been. As we explained when that comment was made by Darling, you really do have to comprehend the context.

That’s what we pride ourselves on. Our X (Twitter) response that day is below.

The Indy refute Darling’s comments

On the week players are having Luke was positive. "The weather has been lovely and the players have been training really hard " No injuries are reported bar a few knocks and bangs.

On the game on Saturday Luke mentioned. "Yes, we would really love to go there and put in a really good performance, and get a victory for sure. We need to see convincing performances that results in three points, then we can start to feel more optimistic” It has to be said Luke looks forlorn at times when speaking on several topics, however he agrees the Swans could have amassed more points by now. "I think we probably could have two more points, we could have improved our return, we can control our destiny to some extent if we improve our performances and our consistency”

On recent Championship sackings the boss was sympathetic. "It’s tough to galvanise a squad, especially when you lose games you should have won”

On a free agent, Luke gave no details on any movement stating it was pretty much the same as last week. "No, nothing more to tell you on that, we are in the same place, we have one or two players we are aware of and in contact with an agent. We are definitely open to it (signing a free agent) it could be a great option for us and it’s something that has changed in the game, players can look after themselves now”

Then there’s the subject of Harry Darling, Luke again looked slightly cautious, and rumours of his discontent on the club wanting to progress matters again seemed evident.”Harry is a top guy and a brilliant footballer” that facial expression tells us a lot (5 mins) Luke gave an analogy of both Ben Cabango and Harry Darling - when asked of the importance and the urgency to sort their contracts out. "I would say the same amount of urgency when Ronald passed to the opposition winger and Harry and Ben ran back like two crazy men, that level of urgency would be good wouldn’t it” ?

That for us, combined with news we have received this week shows there is slight discontent between the head coach and the majority ownership. And that comes from the lack of urgency by the club to sort out these two key players Swansea future.

And then of course Luke confirms what the Indy have stated all along. There have been talks on contracts. And not just one. "It’s not like something that hasn't been spoken about at all, it’s just what Harry is saying we are not drawing up the final terms of the contract. We are not at that stage yet” As we always say, you really have to source information around these conversations. And understand what to Harry Darling is a conversation, and what is a conversations away from the player. However, Harry has been spoken to about a contract this summer. Luke is clealry keen to get this done describing them as. "Two players are very important to us. Two top players we think a lot of”

There, that’s cleared that up then.

You can see the latest Luke Williams interview below, and gauge for yourself what is going on.

We will continue to build up to Saturday’s fixture against Coventry City.

The internet is a great time stamp.
