Obviously completely moot now but I wondered how that match could have gone ahead based on the conditions at kick off. Here is the official FA guidance for fog: Fog creates its’ own problems. Use perspectives from ground level and the back of a stand – check forecast (remember that there is a responsibility to paying spectators).
If was farcical from what I could see and i don’t understand why the kick off wasn’t at least delayed and an orange ball played at the very least.
At some point in the game SKY put up a stat I hadn't seen before and it blew my mind - can't quite remember the specifics but it basically had us as 2nd or 3rd in the League for shots and chances created and bottom for chance conversion at something like 6% - it summed our season up so far in a very telling way. Woeful.
That said I don't think I've ever seen so many of our shots blocked before - it seems like every game there are at least 5 good shots that end up being blocked and not even deflected - no luck with anything going our way. I've only managed to watch on TV but I've been incredulous at the amount of times tackles and half blocks have fallen incredibly kindly to the opposition in all the games as well. Feels like the hex is back somehow.
Many of you might have missed the recent blogs from Greg Spires on potential recruitment - I think he does an excellent job and provides real food for thought on our current players' qualities and deficiencies alongside realistic identification of potential players who might/should be looked at. I've linked to all of his most recent posts below:
I would definitely be interested in checking back on the recommended players at the start of next season to see where they have ended up if they have moved.
Was there yesterday and I’m afraid Marti got that one wrong 4 centre backs a la Swansea was horribly wrong. They were so mobile and tiny and there weren’t really any crosses to deal with. Desperately needed mobile full backs to close the gaps out wide and get up the pitch to pen them back. We’ve also stopped utilising the advantages of having Dunne as an outlet at right back and it totally nullified him. Think back to the successes at Blackburn, West Brom, it was all about pushing Jimmy high and winning the knock down against smaller weaker wingers and full backs. We didn’t do that once yesterday.
People being really disingenuous about this. That is an absolutely brilliant cross and a hell of a finish. Suspect we would be saying very different things if we had scored it.
That’s me in the photo with him. Still can’t get my head around the fact we grew up together, used to stand in The Loft together and now he’s the actual Assistant Manager of our team. It’s bonkers!!
It’s the ninety first minute in a must win game, it’s 2-2 and you get a free kick in your half. What do you do? Lots of good things about Friday’s match but it still boils my piss that they’re in game decisions are still woeful. We ended up passing it back to our keeper and then spent the remaining 5 mins chasing shadows, committing fouls and not impacting the game in any positive way. I still can’t get my head around it.
Living in the North I have to get the majority of my Rangers fix via SKY. Got to say, Lee Hendrie is sooooo much better as a co-commentator than Goodman or Hinchcliffe or whoever else they regularly get in. Thought he called it really well last night and didn't find myself looking for something to throw at the telly in response to yet another ill informed comment or blatant anti-QPR tosh.
Really nice touch from EA on Ultimate Team at the moment where you can earn a QPR kit with Kiyan Prince sponsor and big picture of Kiyan on a TIIFO (mesh thing behind the goals). That’s worldwide coverage so fair play to Mark. Great stuff.
