Sounds like we've got too boring for him, hopped ship to place where a few drug scandals will keep him busy

good luck to Ian, god know he's been through a lot

Wish him well. Our media team has done a pretty good job over the last few years.

Where’s he going to?

I think he'll be a very big loss.

The very best of luck to him.

I’ll never forgive the efforts he made during the eras of Paliadini and Briatore but i’ll wish him luck anyway, as his coverage of Grenfell and Tiger Feet may have been genuine deep down in his deeply dirty media soaked soul.

I phoned up to complain one time when (as was/is usual) they were broadcasting the west ham game instead of qpr game on the official commentary, and was surprised and impressed to find the complaint number went straight throught to his phone! I was initially very angry, a few swear words i'm sorry to say (it was every sodding match) until i realised i was actually speaking to him. He was very polite and apologetic and i was impressed he had the guts to field complaints directly.

PS well it was him or Paul Morrissey, i can't actually remember.

P.P.S when we were in the premier league, i had to phone up Thai tv a couple of times to remind them to switch the QPR game on, because they'd forgotten. Sigh.

I bet Evil Les gets one of his Spuds mates in to replace him.

The grass is always greener.

They do a great job with the first team agreed.
For the under 23s/under 18s, forget it. They are often giving out wrong info about youth games etc or even fail to mention games. The Billericay friendly away in August this season was a prime example. The press dept weren't there but just kept reporting what Billericay twitter feed was reporting. Including wrong names for our goal scorers. Even recently, we played Leeds under 18s. The fixtures list said ko 10.30am. The match preview said ko 11am. When you consider that at every reserve / youth game we have about a dozen staff members on the sidelines no one reports on the game even though we sometimes have camera men videoing the game, including some away games.I know of a regular attendee of such games who has offered to report on the games. He's still awaiting a reply.( And it's not me before you ask)
They have also been known to nick bits of reports posted on the Independent R's website.

Fair points Smegma. Yes I was talking about the first team and I’ve enjoyed the coverage of that, Game for Grenfell etc.

But I agree it’s not great about u23s. The game I went to at LR didnt have any info about who was playing, so I had to keep asking the regulars. And there should be more coverage - I’m sure some sports media trainee or Qpr fan would do some coverage. Have you brought it up at one of the fans forums the club’s held?

But overall, given we’ve won awards for the Match programme and for G4Grenfell, he’s overall done a pretty job. We’ve got pretty good access to the players (Loftcast) and they do quite a lot of community stuff eg visiting schools and hospitals, some of which must be arranged by the press team.
