He's had an appeal refused twice and the conviction is currently being reviewed.

From Wiki - On 24 April 2012, it was announced that Evans was seeking the leave of the Court of Appeal to appeal against his conviction. On 20 August 2012, leave to appeal was refused by a single judge of the Court of Appeal, and on 6 November 2012, a three-judge panel agreed with the refusal

In November 2013 it was revealed that Evans had recruited a new legal team headed by ex-senior detective Russ Whitfield and appeals lawyer David Emanuel. In July 2014, he launched another appeal attempt via the Criminal Cases Review Commission. He was released from prison on 17 October 2014. Following his release, the Criminal Cases Review Commission announced that they were fast-tracking a review into his conviction.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if Evans has actually started proceedings to overturn his
conviction ?
I thought that more or less as soon as convicted an appeal could be submitted.

Haven't heard anything about one that's been put in up to now.
After serving 2 and a half years I would have thought (as he's been so adamant he's innocent) that one would have gone in a lot sooner.

He was refused leave to appeal. He has now requested a Criminal Case Review, which will decide if there is any NEW evidence which, if known at the trial, could have meant that a different verdict was reached.

That review could take place any time up to July.

Only then, will Evans be able to seek to resume a career in football in this country. If the review is of the opinion that the NEW information is of little evidential value or that it was previously used at the original trial, then the conviction will stand.

At that point, Evans may need to think about a change of career.

Just a thought what if Evans wins his appeal will teams like Oldham get a sniff to sign him or will bigger clubs in the championship start queueing for his signature......

Claridge made a comment on TFLS...
Something like, the rape case appeal is something like 6/8 mths away so its about time he was left well alone by all until that appeal is heard........
Something that I agree with......

Stolen from fb

Bury Football Club are said to be interested in Ched Evans.

However, a spokesman for Mr Evans said he wasn't interested as he feels his name has been tarnished enough.
