Boris Johnson and the undeclared £800000 loan 12:47 - Jan 22 with 4158 views | Badgeman | Strange how we manage to get threads with pages and pages of comments on why nurses on £32k a year should be budgeting better and how people who use foodbanks are scroungers. Why do the same posters have nothing to say about our former PM securing £800k in undeclared loans to help him afford his lavish lifestyle? Come on then. Where are all the comments telling him he shouldn’t have kids if he can’t afford them or he just needs to learn how to budget better? It’s just very strange how some people can castigate nurses and carers while turning a blind eye to the former prime minister. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-bbc-chairman-the-prime-minister-and-the-8

You know, I agree with Kilkenny, Bojo should be in prison. It won't happen but it would be a fair cop in my opinion. People are claiming this means the BBC is right wing now too. The relity there is, self serving greed transcends political beliefs. Bojo had this loan because of a person whom he later gave a very good job to, the person who guaranteed the loan didn't care of Bojo was left. right or completely up his own caboose because he possibly already knew that when a certain job was open, he'd be a shoo in. It's corruption, it's fraud, it's wrong on every level but it's how modern politics operates regardless of blue or red.

Very kind. Johnson has fled to Ukraine again, his go to hiding place when scandal breaks. Representing himself …? Totally disresprectful to the current PM. [Post edited 22 Jan 2023 19:06]

There are dishonest and incompetent types in both parties, but the current incarnation of the Conservative Party is, in my opinion probably the worst collection of politicians we’ve had in living memory. Whilst there are some good ones, they’ve got a fair few who are a bit warm!

No one is dull enough ( well maybe that's not quite true) to believe that only one side is capable of dishonesty, deceit , lies and everything that make politics times so sleazy . How many governments have lost power due to those negatives above . Power corrupts no matter who's holding the baton Whos forgotten the fact that Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone gave Labour a £1 million donation at the same time exempting Formula One from the ban on tobacco advertising. Labours last term in office can also be described as being one of sleaze and deception

It could be a case of those who know they are doomed grabbing what they can while the ship sinks around them, grab all the good stuff and head for the lifeboats. It's not just politics, the whole of society needs a reset. Humanity can either learn its lesson or we can carry on as we are and we'll all go down with the good ship idiocy.

The conservatives are doing an incredibly good job of going scorched earth, they will leave so much damage that no party would be able to fix it. Long term planning as they know they've no chance at the next election, but f things up so badly and they can blame someone else for not fixing them for the 5 years.

Boris Johnson and the undeclared £800000 loan on 22:05 - Jan 23 with 2633 views | Kilkennyjack | Twitter has some interesting takes. 1. It looks like the advice from the Cabinet Secretary was, 'family' loans don't have to be declared. And suddenly, a distant cousin appeared on the scene. 2. Was it was cash for favours under the guise of being a loan. Was never a loan in reality ? 3. Presumably the idea is it’s a loan while he’s in office and a gift would be notifiable, but is then later written off when he’s done being an MP. ? 4. Also if it's income disguised as a loan, there is no tax payable. 5. The PM has only one source of salary. The taxpayer. And it’s at a rate that would never service an 800k loan. He wouldn’t have afforded it at high street rates. So it’s preferential. A gift. Potentially dodgy ? Most of us never bump into any of these things in a lifetime.

Questions now being asked about what Boris knew when he appointed Zahawi as Chancellor. It’s early days, but if there’s a very strong case against Boris the Conservatives and Sunak may decide to throw Boris to the wolves - this could remove the “ threat” he poses in a potential leadership election and enable the party to draw a line under issues which arose during Boris’s reign - just blame it on Boris.

I'd have to say the known "corruption ", back scratching , PPE contract awards everthing that's emerged over the past 3 years or so did arose during Boris’s reign -so yes he should be held accountable , but with taking down all the others implicated . Lives have been lost and ruined and will continue to be all due to this mans so called leadership edit With [Post edited 24 Jan 2023 6:09]

Definitely, Ian Hislop spoke about that issue on LBC. this current crop are off the charts. We need a far more robust system and root and branch reform of politics in Britain
