Hi Lone ... we did indeed sign Jan Bekker in 1975. But it was straight after we applied for re-election. He joined the club on trial the same time as Paul Harris, George Smith, Geoff Bray etc. After 3 goals in 12 games he went back to Everwarm/Bridgend. He sadly died a couple of years ago.

I liked Jan Bekker but in my imagination I always thought he'd scored more goals. Sad to hear he's passed away

JF... He came here in the February of 1975, which would have been the 1974/75 season. I just found this... https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bridgend-town-star-bo

10/10 for trying.. but he was absolutely awful when all things considered. The type of player who would turn to look at the goal, turn back and the ball would rebound off his head/face and somehow find a Swans player.. he'll then put his thumb up to acknowledge the player, as if he meant it. Let's be honest though, he wasn't fooling anyone

Time muddles the memories but I'm sure he played in the last game of the season at Rochdale when we had to get re-elelcted
Wall of lame on 22:50 - May 5 with 3750 views | jack247 | Darran you were right. I didn’t agree with your post about a team of KOLs but went to Bournemouth today and they had the better players but we could have at least beaten them for heart. I still think we will get at least a draw on Tuesday and beat Stoke if we have to though.

Today’s players don’t care about the club enough my friend. That’s basically all I was saying. ðŸ‘🻠

Wall of lame on 22:34 - May 6 with 3561 views | Dippy | Pawel Abbott.. f*cking goal scoring machine for Huddersfield.. we signed him as our marquee.. I'm still having nightmares of him attempting to trap it, rebounding off his shin and start off opposition counter attacks.. But in all fairness.. he was a trier. They all tried and battled away.. without the obvious ability to play football.

Another one of those players who excelled when he was on loan so we gave him a permanent deal and it all went downhill from there...
