“I swear that I will pay true allegiance to your majesty, and to your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God.”
Seriously. When I heard that The Archbishop of Canterbury was going to 'invite' the whole Nation to swear this oath, at the same time I presume, I couldn't believe it. Are they hoping that we'll all stand in front of our TV's and swear with hand on heart, maybe bowing our heads, perhaps wearing a hat specifically so we can doff it at the same time ?
It would be like being one of 65 million extras on a Blackadder special. It really is that ridiculous.
Always best to check with your mates, rather than accept the professional polling people. Nobody ever said.
New poll shows support for Welsh independence rising & a majority of Labour voters (51%) supporting independence. Good chance we will see similar figs for Scottish Labour soon. https://t.co/iW76LO8dnJ
As someone who does not support the monarchy and is favourable toward independence I am more than happy for people to have opposing views. Ones which i do not deride them for having.
I would suggest if you have different opinions witholding the insults and the same to many others on here. Shouting insults around from whatever side will never change anyones mind on any matter.
Well said Bryan. It baffles me why people have to resort to insults because someone else has a different view to them.

Correct anyone is entitled to their opions as long as they state them in a respectful manner.
Any one who wants a Republic can form a political party, stand for Parliament and if there is enough democratic support for their cause can change our constitution.
What should not be allowed is minority groups forcing their opinions on the majority.

Hard for welsh and scottish nationalists to convince Brenda and Keith from Stoke of the merits of the indy case, dont you think ?
The Senedd should speak for Cymru as our democratically elected government. The case is unarguable.
I am sure you would agree ….. seeing as you are openly being our new champion of democracy. Well done.

There are Englanders who would like to see English independence. Mainly weirdos and oddballs but they are out there. And many more would love to see the back of the Scots, the SNP and their incessant whining about how hard done by they are.

Many English folk would like to detach from Wales and Scotland . Given the hatred that is apparent, you get their point really.

It would be a much better to have a modern relationship built on mutual respect and co-operation. The current out of date relationship simply cannot work for Scotland or Wales. And probably England.

Reform the uk or its game on for Indy.
That is fair comment Killy . To me,this monarchy perpetuates class and divides No need for the largesse still very evident I don’t want the UK split up but we really need to reform and realise we are not “ subjects” anymore

Correct that is why we have a modern democracy.
Scotland voted to remain in the UK and the % in Scotland who want independence is now as low as it has been in the last 10 years.
Wales only 20% want independence
The majority voted to leave the undemocratic EU
Respect the democratic decisions of the people of the UK.

Spot on OHL.
We need to grow up as the UK. The BBC fawning over the royals every night would do North Korea proud.

A wonderfull success last week approved by the majority of the people of the UK.
Time you gave up fawning over the unelected President of the EU and her 28 unelected EU commissioners. They have real power unlike our symbolic head of state.

Apart from the 18-24 age group the majority of the British public are in favour the monarchy. So much to your disappointment the BBC were providing the British public what they wanted.
