The second part of our pictorial look at our recent visits to Anfield starts in the 2017/18 season, when Virgil Van Dijk's attitude that day, showed everyone where his loyalties now lay.

Saints went to Anfield in November 2017 with Virgil Van Dijk in their side, a comprehensive 3-0 defeat left no one in any doubt that he did not want to be at St Mary's.

A year later and Van Dijk was on the other side, but the result was exactly the same.

2019/20 saw us visit Anfield in February, but it was another defeat this time 4-0.

May 2021 saw Covid regulations mean the game was played in front of an empty Anfield, the result was the same, but this time it was only 2-0.

We made it 5 defeats in a row at Anfield in November 2021 with another 4-0 defeat.

2022/23 saw us arrive again in November with Nathan Jones first game in charge and no surprises that it was our 6th League defeat in a row at Anfield, however we did shock the Kop, we actually scored a goal, Che Adams equalising in the 9th minute, but we were still 3-1 down by half time and that was how it finished.

Although we didn't play Liverpool in the League in 23/24 season, we did travel there in the FA Cup 5th round, but again it was the same old same and we got wacked 5-0.
