Your Burnley v Southampton Match Reports

You are never going to win a Premier league match when half your team doesn't turn up. Mo and Valery may have the excuse of fasting for Ramadan, but what is the excuse for Broja, Stuart Armstrong and Lyanco?

Amazed that Ralph didn't do a double substitution at half time, bringing Che Adams on was surely obvious to most of us. Abysmal performance from him too I'm afraid.

The first half was a carbon copy of the match against Chelsea except Burnley had less accomplished finishing. I get the premise of don’t change a winning team but why did Ralph think the tactics against Arsenal would work against Burnley. It was clear that they didn’t but it wasn’t changed until 65mins. We play so much better after the change in formation but the damage was done.

It wasn’t only Ralph’s fault as the players were well below the level needed to compete. Non existent tackling, slow build up play and dribbling down cul-de-sacs. Again only Fraser gets credit because otherwise the score could have been much worse. You could see how frustrated Fraser was. At this rate it the question will be more about whether he wants to sign a new contract with us rather than if we want to offer one.

Fair play to Burnley they deserved the win but I doubt they will have an easier match this season.

Oh and P.S apart from FF the only other Saints that get credit from last night are the fans. Fair play travelling all that way on a weekday to watch that drivel. Could still hear them singing even though there was nothing to sing about on the pitch.

Why play 5 at the back and 1 up front against who had only won 4 times all season???? No effort, desire or regard for the fans who made the journey on a Thursday night.

Only Forster, Perraud and KWP can say they tried, the rest should refund the fans who travelled up.

Is the script for the rest of the season, if so can we have a refund on the last 2 games please.

Predictable set up exploited by Burnley.
The old adages don't always work: Don't change a winning combination
Always going to be tough against a team fighting for their lives, but we made it so easy

Its clear that we are playing like a team that is safe in the premier league and has there summer holidays on there minds, wear as Burnley ( and fair play to em) are fighting for there lives and clearly up for the challange! Only saving grace now is we are about to play teams around us that maybe have the same attitude and thinking as we do.. Beach volleyball!

Woeful performance. Not the right team selection and players (Forster apart) let themselves down. There was plenty on the match for us with a possible 9th place on offer and we totally blew it.

Same team and tactics that had a lucky win against Arsenal but utterly shameful, embarrassing, and pitiful display. Anyone mug enough to pay to watch that ought to ask for their money back immediately. Romeu and Prowsey said "This way please" down the middle of the park and Prowsey's dead balls were nearly ok, but not as usual.

It must be obvious to even Semmens now that Ralphy is out of his depth and we need a caretaker manager like Burnley or a replacement like Everton. and Newcastle if we don't want people to feel sorry for us.

Fortunately (?) I didn’t see this one live but picked up on some highlights afterward. No doubt Saints were on the whole poor - yet we had some scorable opportunities, two each for Romeu and Adams. Thinking back to the recent past, had we Vestergaard and Ings on the field at least one if not two of those chances goes in. This is the biggest issue we have to address going forward ..
