How many winning league games next season for SFC ? on 16:49 - Jul 4 by djsaint | I’d like to say something! Saints most recent top flight season had attendance average of 93.9%. The blue fews most recent top flight season had attendance average of 88.2%. |
I'd like to say something 15,115 15,159 15,099 14,820 14,685 14,751 15,382 14,070 15,413 16,463 15,590 14,544 14,950 14,877 14 consecutive rather embarassing average attendances in the top division. We've only ever had one anywhere near these.

How many winning league games next season for SFC ? on 17:15 - Jul 4 by SouthSeaSaint | Quite interesting to note that when Pompey were enjoying their purple patch post WW2 when there were lots of naval personnel in the town and sports starved football fans from around Hampshire went to Fratton to see Div 1 games, crowds at Fratton Park, with a capacity over over 50,000, averaged 37,082 in 1948/9 and 37,004 in 1949/50, very similar to Hull City and Notts County in Div 3. There must have been lots of spare room for some games. Since Pompey were relegated to Div 2 in 1960 and Saints promoted the same year, the results and home attendances have been very much in favour of more recent generations of Saints fans despite the fact that for 40 odd years since 1960, Fratton Park had a bigger capacity. |
Quite interesting to note that when Soton were enjoying their purple patch in the eighties and nineties and beyond when there were lots of cargo and cruise personnel in the town and sports starved football fans from around Hampshire and the south of England went to the Dell and produced the following average attendances in consecutive years. 15,115 15,159 15,099 14,820 14,685 14,751 15,382 14,070 15,413 16,463 15,590 14,544 14,950 14,877 [Post edited 4 Jul 19:00]

The all time female attendance in this country for a bog standard league game beats your all time best by over 20,000. Is that painful?

How many winning league games next season for SFC ? on 15:20 - Jul 4 by djsaint | So following your logic: In recent years, if the blue few had a bit more passion and been bothered a bit more, you wouldn’t have ended up back in the 4th tier! |
It was a financial crash you buffoon. We were a top ten English club before the crash. Nothing to do with passion, all to do with finances and selling players.

During that same period: The blue few had one solitary season in top flight averaging 57% of capacity! Oh dear, oh dear, pack the park indeed 😂

What are you on about you fool? There was for some time a Div 3 North & Div 3 South. Of course you know this as you’ve played in it! They eventually combined the 2 and created Div 4 (the 4th tier) which you’ve played in for 6 seasons. Saints have never played in Div 4 (the 4th tier).

15,115 was 00/01 the season before we moved to SMS. The capacity was 15,200 from 92/93 so we couldn't have attained 2 of your guesses of 15,382 and 15,413. Anyway, the ground was pretty much full, unlike yours

Looks like i was 2 years out with the 15200, reduced in 94-95, can't trust Wiki can you? Or your 15,382 for that season as that would be impossible. That's 2 mistakes then, Wiki don't think we've ever played in Div 4 , where did we finish? More importantly, did you an Potchy enjoy yourselves down Southsea Common celebrating winning Div3?, another major honour, with the other couple of thousand, or 1% of the population of the City

Please confirm which season you are referring to. We are all aware that we have played a number of seasons in Division 3 South, in fact unbelievably, we have even won it. But if you really believe that it is the 4th tier of football because Division 3 North may appear alphabetically before it, then you are seriously deluded. The Third Division South of The Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division North with clubs elected to the League or relegated from Division Two allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division South and the Third Division North according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. This division was created in 1921 from the Third Division, formed one year earlier when the Football League absorbed the leading clubs from the Southern League.
