Steven Davis Expected To Miss Villa Game But Better News On Others

Saints have a few injury doubts before the game against Aston Villa but Ronald Koeman has confirmed that there is good news and bad news.

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Steven Davis is doubtful for the trip to Villa Park on Monday, his hamstring injury picked up against Leicester City has meant he has not yet returned to full training and was unable to train with the squad today(Friday).

Koeman when asked said.

"He’s not fit and maybe we have two days,”

"If the game was tomorrow, he was not fit to play. He will be doubtful for Monday.”

That's very ominous from the Saints boss although it could be to throw Villa off the scent, losing Davis would be a big blow to Saints, although they have plenty of options to replace him, the truth is Davis has been a key factor in the great start to the season, he is perhaps the unsung hero of the campaign so far and we will miss him more than most people will realise.

There was better news on Dusan Tadic, and Koeman confirmed that the Serbian had trained on Friday morning with no apparent after effects on the injury that saw him return home from International duty, suggesting that this was not serious merely precautionary.

Morgan Schneiderlin didn't train today but Koeman expects him to be fine for Monday, meaning that the extra couple of days rest might make all of the difference for the Frenchman.

"Morgan came back with a groin injury from the French national team,” Koeman said.

"He didn’t train today, but I have good hope he will be fit for Monday.”

So mixed news from the Saints camp, although Villa appear to have bigger problems
