Southampton Confirm Gavin Bazunu Loan Move

Saints have announced that goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu will spend the rest of the season out on loan, given that the club have Aaron Ramsdale, it makes sense to let the Irish International get his match fitness back away from St Mary's.

Southampton FC have confirmed that Gavin bazunu will spend the rest of the season on loan at Standard liege in Belgium.

The keeper has been out injured for the best part of 10 months and recently made his comeback in the U21 side.

But with Aaron Ramsdale at the club, chances were going to be limited, so the decision has been made to let him get his fitness and confidence back by playing in the Jupilo League in Belgium.

The chances are that Ramsdale will leave in the summer barring a miracle and Saints somehow staying up, so it makes sense to let Bazunu get some game time elsewhere without too much pressure.

Next season in the Championship he could be a key player, he has his critics , but a team doesn't go 23 matches unbeaten in the League with a dodgy goalkeeper and Bazunu could be a decent keeper with a good defence in front of him and not having to play passes across his own goal line.

He is still young and learning, he has shown he has the mental strength to get through a tough baptism of fire in Saints relegation season and now a serious injury that must have affected him both physically and mentally.
